Do NPCs bounty hunters stalk you more the higher your bounty?

I'm only curious because I planning on committing more crimes in a system where I have an unpaid legacy bounty. Once I do it that old bounty will come alive again and add with the new bounty values I add to it.

I just curious if it would benefit me to go to a station in the system and pay the old legacy bounty off before I start a new one in the same system.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks

...

You'll not make a very good criminal, if you continue to put in writing and publish the crimes you are about to commit...

I don't know the answer. It seems to make little difference from my own experience, but not sure that I've amounted a sufficiently high >million credit bounty to see the difference.

They do begin to pester you once you hit a certain threshold. As to what that threshold is, your guess is as good as mine. :D

The only daft thing, is the bounty hunters will attack you for you bounty regardless of whether you're actually wanted in that system.
So Ironically, your Bounty Hunter will gain a bounty for assault.
Then you can legally kill them. :D

There is no gradataion that I've been able to witness, you get bounty hunters after you or you don't. They will come after you just as often for a 300k credits bounty from the next system or from a 5k credits bounty from 400ly away.

And what ship/rank the NPC has depends on your ship and your rank, not the bounty itself.

I dunno, Zodiac had a pretty good run.

I work hard to keep my record clean, because Bounty Hunters annoy me - they show up, open fire, and stay clean the entire time they're trying to kill me.
If pressed too hard, I'll take out their thrusters and weapons and leave them that way.

I notice significantly more bounty hunters coming after me once the bounty gets higher, and it does seem to me to be higher bounty = more hunters, more often.

It could just be confirmation bias though.
