General / Off-Topic Do Orange julius stands/Dairy queens exist in europe/england?

I grew up drinking these and read they were in europe at one point. I wonder if people overseas know about these. I wonder if they have been in asia or other places also. They are a very interesting drink.

Nope...afraid not..... sounds American...... which seeing we do have McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Starbucks, Subway, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. etc. means we should have some Orange Julius... but no.. not yet..... are we missing something? o7

Orange julius got bought out by dairy queen. It would be attached to a dairy queen stand now. I think there were some in germany.

And this is interesting:

This logo from orange julius got sued to death by the state of arizona university. As if they own the devil?!

How is that remotely close?! did they ahve something more similar at some point? If not talk about coruption in high places. No wonder these scumbag colleges are despised. The wiki says the original gave out bible tracks. I wonder if that is why they were attacked. There was a lot of that at that point in the 80's. Especially by big organizations.

Orange Julius isn’t very well-known outside of the United States. There have been calls to take this drink to Europe and other locations with many international customers seeking a taste of an iconic drink. But the truth is, they already tired. Orange Julius took their drink to Europe in the 70s, before falling to achieve any sort of traction in the United Kingdom and Netherlands.

This is why. There might be one or two left. But I think one is in germany or something.

As you can see from the link there is a recipe. But there is a way they do it at the stands or old stand that involves some sort of poweder to make it frothy/thick slightly. It used to be know. They gave out the recipe in full when I was a kid. In fact I think they were always open about the recipe. Might be differnet now that they have been bought out.

Apparently they used raw eggs originally. I've done raw eggs on japanese stuff and in pasta. It's usually pretty good. The powder must have been a replacement thing.

Originally, and through the 1980's, a raw egg blended into the drink was offered as an option. This was seen as a good source of protein for body builders. However, the option was later dropped for food safety reasons, and bananas were offered as a substitute.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Orange Julius beverage stands used the image of a devil with a pitchfork, similar to that of the Arizona State University mascot, Sparky around an orange, with the slogan, "A Devilishly Good Drink". The company later dropped the logo and slogan after threats of a lawsuit from the ASU alumni association. The chain suffered after the loss of its slightly infringed mascot and sales began to drop off.

When I lived in Greenwich I used to travel down to Lewisham to use the Wendy's - this was in the 80's - there aren't any here any more - shame as I liked their burgers.

Apparently they are looking to try again in the UK this year.

I always liked Wimpy burgers, their special sauce really made them. And as I have one local, I still do!
