As in title - not sure I'm seeing any progression, but I'm not sure there is supposed to be. If combat advances combat rank, trading advances trade rank, exploring/exploration; what does carrying people about do?

As far as I can tell they just up the faction rep.
Mixed reports coming in. Some players say the can advance all ranks, depending on the rank suggestion in the mission briefing (some suggest a certain combat/trade/exploration rank - that's the one that gets advanced).
I'm hesitant to believe that - we would have a lot Elite exploration CMDRs very soon.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to get to my PC for over a week now, so I couldn't try for myself. But I'm also interested in that.
