Do pirates want the Unknown Probe or Artefact?

Recently, I completed the requirements to land on Palin Research Centre to buy an anti-corrosion cargo rack and would like to start getting a couple of Unknown Probe and Artefact.

Will pirates attack if they scan and found either one or both in my ship's cargo?

Also, will any station buy them?

I have not seen that having UAs, UPs or ULs in my ship increases the likelihood of pirate attacks any more than any other cargo.

You usually sell them at black markets.

UAs bring around 300k+ each and ULs can bring as much is 700k+ each at certain locations as I recall. That said, there's certainly better ways to make money.

Have you had just UA & UP in your ship and attacked by a pirate?

I'm not planning to sell them to make money except am hunting for UFs and sometimes UA spawns UP, hence am wondering if I can carry just a couple of them around.

What's UL?

Unknown link, found at active alien bases

Thanks. I have been told pirates attacked CMDR's for hauling biowaste, hence they will want UA & UP since they are worth more [money]

Though, I have read pirates don't want limpets.

I've got a UP, UA and a UL. yep. npc pirate spawn every 3/4 jumps in and around to bubble. 90% of the time thay don't get chance to interdict me, but when thay do....submit and just away. easy.

p.s.....when you go looking for a probe...dont have your sensors engineered. I had lightweight on mine and looked for around 23h game time. took the mod off and found one in 20 mins.

Yeah, I know can run away from them but when bounty hunting, don't want them to shoot first ;)

Interesting comment about the engineered sensor b/c mine is engineered and last night when I went to HIP 17862 (Planet 6 C A @ 30.33 / -98.58), found one UF only when I got out in the SRV. After driving around for a few minutes or so, 3 UAs and 3 UFs popped up on my sensor within a minute, and then no more.

So, I traveled to HIP 17403 (Planet A 4 A @ -34.96 / -141.37), but I couldn't find the crash site despite scouting in the area for over an hour [blah] Is this bugged :S

I've had pirates scan me with just UA, UP, and UL in hold and they'll usually demand the credit value of the cargo they want. No clue why the npcs are poorly coded though, I highly doubt that most if not all pirate npcs, do not have access to Palin and therefore do not have corrosion resistant racks, likely before their weird pirate selves with infinite cargo holds would just lose it in supercruise as it eats it's way out of their hold. Frontier really should make pirates not target that, like if a pirate scans you and sees those in your hold, he should instead just leave with like "whoa now, I want nothing to do with that stuff, you can keep your dangerous cargo". Would make it feel more realistic.

I just got 776k for one at Tanner City (V886 Centauri). Wish I had more, but I didn't want to go hunting for another UP/UA to get back inside, then have back/forth trips all day in a deteriorating SRV.

yes. the unknown artefacts at crash sights are always there. and the fragments come from blowing them up. But to find an unknown probe around an amonia world, non spawned for me with engineered sensors for 23h. But then having removed the mod one spawned in less than 20 mins. I've not done any tests on this so it may be coincidence, just thought it was worth mentioning. :)

NPC pirates want your biowaste.

They want your UA's, UP's and last weeks news papers.
