Newcomer / Intro Do ship prices vary from station to station?

I've found various older threads that suggest this is true, but in all my searching all the ship yards have the same prices. Am I just not venturing out far enough? Or are ships the same price wherever you are?

Some ships have had their pricetag altered by F.dev over the different versions/updates of the game, but other than that the price for a specific ship is the same everywhere, except from on founders world but you need a permit to go there...

Except for founder's world (either need to be a Kickstarter backer or reach Elite) all prices are the same standardly. That said, there are community goals occasionally that give ship or module discounts, but you have to participate in the goal and then you have to buy your stuff in the 7 days immediately following the event.

Some of the Permit systems give a discount on certain ships. Somewhere in Alioth gives a very nice 20% on Asp and Orca, even Sol gives a pitiful discount on a pointless ship. I think there are a couple of others, but nothing spectacular.
There may be more options for discounts in PP.

Keep an eye out for community goals that offer discounts on ships. The Alliance had a CG that gave me 15% discount on an Asp, which really came in useful and at the perfect time.

OK - what if I buy a ship at a discount price and then want to sell it. Will I get the regular buyback price for it, or less because of the original discount?

Nope, tried that. You get the price you paid for it minus 10%.

The discount will change depending on what tier is achieved. I joined the Nu community goal to get a Clipper, it was at 5% discount when I started but by the end reached 29%

so certainly worth looking at community goals.

I'm quite new... how do i find such community goals? As I figure from other posts there was one that recently ended? But how do i see that there is one and where do i find it?

You are 'supposed' to hear about them on galnet, but it is a bit local. Try the thread at the top of Dangerous Discussions on Active Community Goals

Keep a close eye on this ^^^^^^.... CG's are normally contained within a news article

There's the Active Community Goals Thread, but the guy who updates it says his graphics card burnt out and he might not be able to keep it updated as frequently. But I'm sure some people will be willing to help in the mean time. So keep an eye on the OP and the most recent posts to keep track of CGs.
