Do some states block others now?

I have a system thats in an election but has been at 1% for more than 1 day, and retreat has not gone pending. In the past a state goes pending the next tick, and active the tick after that. The election has been going on for 4 days.

Should I even try to work out whats going on, or simply drink a beer?

I dont think Retreat is the same. Seen a faction in Retreat when it never went below 9%

The beer sounds like a good idea till we get some sort of briefing, or another patch.

This is the second time I've got this faction < 2.5%, and the first time retreat was pending one tick and went live the next. Its really annoying and disheartening having this nonsense go on like it is.

I mean, this faction is in lockdown, investment and election, and should be in retreat as well. People go on about how illogical blocking wars were, but is this any better?

Going by the stickied bug report on the BGS, this is an issue FD are having trouble with. From my own tests the new BGS system is flawless in isolation, but as soon as it meets complications arising from multiple interacting groups it has a breakdown and starts sucking its thumb in the corner.

Hmmm..... three states you say? So there is a block. 3 is the max like they said on the live stream?

I wonder if that explains some of the endless pending expansions - it can't go live because to do so would add a 4th state somewhere.

Not an explanation in most cases unless it's counting "4 distinct states total across the entire faction", though.

One economic (Famine, Bust, Boom, Investment), one security (Lockdown, Civil Unrest, Civil Liberty) and one other (Outbreak, War, Civil War, Election, Expansion, Retreat, Pirate Attack(?), Thargoid Incursion).

Any others?

With regard to Expansion, is that a special case of a Faction-wide state? That would tie in somewhat with the idea of it relying on the Happiness across all systems (if I remember the live-stream correctly).

EDIT - having read the live-stream notes here:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ivestream-Background-Simulation-and-Scenarios

... it sounds like there should be potential for five simultaneous States.

Pirate Attack and a conflict can happen at the same time.

It makes sense actually and could explain some problems. But why ? And how FD could implement something like that knowing you could have 5 states in parallel...

And just to follow up, Pirate Attack and War simultaneously:

Coincidentally, that faction is nowhere near an Investment or Civil Liberty state (None for both), so I'd call that evidential that the Pirate Attack state is not triggered by that combination of states.

Equally, I found another faction in three states; Election,Lockdown and Investment (in the Mbayo system).

And lastly, Election and Pirate Attack can definitely coincide:

I can't demonstrate a case where more than 3 states can exist at one time yet, but at the very least, with the combinations that are listed above, I can't see a reason it can't occur atm.

EDIT: Conicidentally, is something going on? I can't find any expansions or retreats occurring anywhere (either in-game or via EDDB). Maybe they're unclogging it as we speak?

EDDB won't search for states which aren't either a system or station controller, though it should show them if you go to the right page.

I can see a few Retreats around Colonia - Canonn from Mobia and Aurora Astrum, Colonia Cooperative from Far Tauri, several others.

I don't see any active Expansions, however, and the last one to complete was 30 December.
