I'm tempted to do the very long jump to one of the story events that's unfolding. But need to ask, do these story events actually have a physical presence in the game? I have searched but haven't found an answer.
By that I mean if, for example, GalNet announces that ships have been deployed to a certain system should I be able to fly to that system and actually see those ships and any potential later conflict? Or do these events only generate more of the same kill/trade/loot bulletin missions in that system.
Not looking for spoilers, I just don't want to spent the time and credits if it's the same stuff I could do at Barnard's Star (my adopted home). But if we're talking Battlestar Galactica I'll be there in a shot. I just don't want to have false expectations.
