Do the devs even look at Feedback -> Suggestions on the forums?

It seems like here in General there is LOTS of dev replies, but that seems VERY rare (if at all?) on https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forums/suggestions.401/ (Planet Zoo -> Feedback -> Suggestions). Should we be posting that stuff here to actual get responses? Kind of frustrating (and a little insulting) to spend time making thoughtful posts on "Suggestions" to see all that just feel like it's going nowhere, and being unheard. Even if a community manager could just post "Your suggestions has been fwd to the team" or something, it would at lest feel better.

It's just odd/frustrating that when people post "suggestions" here in General (the wrong place for them) they DO reply.
Depends what kind of reply you want I guess. I was assuming you wanted "We will do that" or "We won't do that" replies. If you want "That is cool" then you may get that (still doesn't mean they'll do it :) )

Yeah, that's fair. I mean, I def don't expect them to say "we will do that" or "we don't do that" in suggestions, I get that is a lot/too much to ask for. But I think it would feel like our suggestions are being heard, even if they had a default response of "thanks for your feedback, we have fwd'd your feedback to X team" or something basic like that. Just feels like our very useful suggestions (a lot of them being more "Quality of Life" type things that really need to be addressed, rather than a new feature request) are not being heard or seen at all currently. Like this or something (haha):

Yeah, but occasionally those suggestions turn up in-game, then people realise they were listened it. You just have to imagine the "thanks for the suggestion post" :)

Yeah, I suppose. Or just do what others are doing, and post in "General", and most likely actually get a dev response haha ¯\(ツ)

I'd rather they not waste their time giving us generic responses to suggestions when they could be doing something more important.

I get that everyone wants to feel validated. But just cause you don't get a personal response to your post doesn't mean they aren't reading. I'm sure they read everything.

Well, it's different roles. Like the community manager's job is to reply on the forums and such. Not meaning actual devs take time from the coding to respond. Sorry, I was using the term "dev" more generally speaking. But having the community managers reply is what their time is for.

I'm aware that a community team member is not one of the software developers. However, I'm certain even community managers have more important things to do than reply to every single suggestion thread.

I mean, not nec. That's literally their job. Haha Like where I work, our community manager's role is to literally respond to ever thread in our company forums and on social and such to make sure people know they are being heard.

This is really the only game-centric forum I read/post on but... I would imagine this is common practice for game developers? I would assume that most developers would prefer to "under-promise and over-deliver." And the best way to do that is to stay tight-lipped until you know for sure what is or isn't feasible. Ad I'd guess Frontier is still sorting that out as far as some of the additonal features the community is wanting are concerned.

It would be a lot to respond to every suggestions that comes in, and if they replied to a few they would get called out for "being selective." They definitely seem to be addressing/acknowledging some of the issues/feedback rather than the overall suggestions for new game features, animals, etc. that come in. Which makes sense, given where we are since launch (6 business days).

But I'm sure they track the suggestions. They added a whole new game mode based on beta feedback, after all. And they're the ones that set-up that initial "Wishlist" forum, no? It wouldn't make sense to put something like that into play and then just throw it out.

Once the game starts to stabilize, people figure out the game, and they sort out some of the initial bugs/glitches, then it'll probably be time to start talking about some of the other suggestions people have. But again, I'm sure somebody is tracking it all. I'm just not sure what they would be able to say about suggested features at this point that wouldn't bum people out in the end (unless they can flat-out say "we can't do that, sorry" which isn't very satisfying either).

Welllll in modern times over-promise and under-deliver seems way more profitable to me haha

In the short-term, hah. And for a game like this, where I think the developers would probably want to generate for-profit DLC over the next few years (and maybe even a sequel?) they'd probably like to keep the goodwill that they have. More people playing as time goes on means more money.

And the more people who really enjoy the game (and feel good about the developer)? The more they hype the game. In part because they want more DLC probably. Haha.

If you look through the forums a bit, they respond a LOT. Very similar thread from yesterday here, second post is response from them.

I'm sorry if I come off a little crass; it's just really frustrating seeing people get upset over things that have already been answered multiple times. Just give it some time, it'll even out!

My general point was they were replying to that thread here in GENERAL, but not in SUGGESTIONS. Not that they hadn't actually like updated the game with suggestions.

Oh okay I apologize, it would be nice if they posted stuff like that there too. Suggestions is probably a little overshadowed by the amount of posts overall.

Also, people who say the devs responding to suggestions would be a waste of time, responding to all this threads on general is an even bigger waste of time then.

If you look at what they respond to, though, it's focused on the core issues that the game currently has. Major bugs, etc. I'm sure when things settle down some and they have things a bit more stable, you might see more interaction on that front.

"Suggestions" are generally bigger changes to the game that will require a lot more than one week to address--and in some cases, would require months to figure out if its something enough people really want in the game, whether its feasible, plus the time to actually implement it, etc.

The same can be said for some of the feedback people are providing too, I'm sure (e.g., I have no idea how long it takes to tweak animal behaviors). But I'm sure they are focusing on the game play issues and graphical bugs people are reporting rather than some of the "nice to have" modifications people are requesting.

I do hope a time comes when they can start to say things like, "Yeah, yeah. Cool your jets. Otters and meerkats are coming!" :)
