Do the ships you own affect the "random" parts of the game?

I've been hanging out in a RES in a vulture lately, making a fortune from a stream of pythons, clippers etc. I bought a T7 to do some trading for a bit of variety. Now when I go back to the RES (in the Vulture) there is hardly anything to kill, just a few crummy sidewinders. Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Was the game taking into account the fact I only had a combat ship before and spawning more enemies?

I don't believe so. I was hoping I'd start getting Dangerous, Deadly and Elites in a RES if I went in with a more expensive ship but no, just the same random selection.
