There are a lot of people with a lot of questions, a lot of the time they are trivial and do not warrant a forum post. There are also a lot of people with a lot of experience at this point, possibly some that would help newer players with aforementioned questions. It might help to reduce the number or unnecessary posts, and help us chat with other commanders since there is no in game chat. The galaxy can be a lonely place, I think this would help make it a little more friendly.

I know this would make work for moderators and may have already been considered, but it is worth asking just incase.

Trust me to mess up the poll... Not ingame, a live forum chat window. Sorry...

Not something I personally think is needed...

I can just imagine what it will contain and how spammy / vulgar and well the rest it would be... hmmmm, no thanks.

Would be nice in game but if that was going to be added I think it would have been by now. Also a forum chat can be moderated and users banned from it for trolling and such.

I've yet to see an in-game MMO general chat that doesn't devolve into "money for leveling/credits" spam or vulgar garbage.
