I think the question is pretty straight, and out of curiosity.

I toss my coin into yes, the problem is, you cant prove or disprove it, but in theory somewhere and some time maybe in the past or future it must be exist, even if we now we are alone.
It's basically the same problematics, as hawking M theory. you can't prove, or disprove it, although is a good theory. And my answer is the same, as on that question. I leave it open until validation.

There is no evidence one way or another. But I don't see why there couldn't be. Distance and time might make it hard to communicate.

I like to believe that there is but there's zero evidence to support it.
A bit like religion, it's a belief / faith thing.

I'm disagreeing with you in this matter.
Because theory says it must be, there is a very good chance, but we lacking of evidence. And the lack of evidence is not equal the impossibility of proof.

Don't "believe" one way or the other. Statistically speaking, they are likely to exist but the chances are we'll never know.

The universe is so        g vast that we're probably never going to meet intelligent life if it exists :)

"Very good chance"?
Not according to the Fermi paradox, which raises some pertinent questions as to the lack of evidence.

Just to reiterate my own stance here: I'm a pagan who embraces science and willing to entertain the idea of intelligent life beyond our own world ;)

Well of course there are aliens , how else did they film star wars ;p

No , of course I belive in aliens. of course I belive intelligent life is very rare... just like on earth :p
The galaxy is massive and its possible that aliens have found are signals and just dont understand them or dont even want to have anything to do with us.

The problem is with fermi's paradox its constantly revived, shifting changing. So no we can't know for sure unless we ran across one. And i don't think there is any of it within our stellar neighborhood, where we have a chance to get a radio signal. Because as the distance increases, the signal is just losing power. and after a while you just have zero chance to detect the signal, IF its not extremely strong, and directed. I think this is our biggest problem about the lack of proof we have.

The resolution in there to increase the size of radio telescopes, but he problem is to get any good signal against its decay you need bigger telescopes than you can possibly build in earth. and way much bigger than what one reflector dish makes possible. But luckily to us, we don't have to use one single dish right? Think about The Nevada radio telescope array!

We need something like that one in space in theory, you can create an array with a virtual dish as big as our solar system. :)
And even better you can also do that with optical telescope too! think about how bug's eye work!

Hmm... :D Maybe something like this can be used to prove the superstring theory?

I voted maybe, i was swinging towards yes, theres got to be life out there, but it's level of intelligence will never be confirmed, at least not in our lifetime, unless the Vulcans see our first warp flight.
