Do you even Power Play?

I haven't seen much mentioned about power play these days (other than that you should unpledge support to avoid being inter-deathed).
Is power play still worth doing these days?
I'm pledged to a power still, but wondering if there's much point in that or if I'm better off ignoring it.

What are people's thoughts? Are the rewards worth doing the work for these days?

I unpledged because you get PP NPCs everywhere now, even hanging around suicidally attacking you outside stations. I wasn't invested in it (flag of convenience,) but it makes RES work much harder, as you'll get a wanted tag for returning fire (and they're waiting for you in RESes now too.)

I quit my PP faction as well. The constant harassment wasn't worth it at the slightest. The activities involved in PP activities are dull and unrewarding (weekly rewards are less or same as you would investing that time doing anything else). The unique equipment is just barely worth it at best.

I do miss the extra bounty payoffs, but not nearly that much as to pledge again.

Well I quit my pledge with Denton yesterday and it reduced the interdictions (with high ranked ships) to a manageable level now. I have been slowing dropping levels anyway, but with this latest patch its just not worth it right now.

I really enjoyed PP, mixing up undermining, combat zones and delivering Garrison Supplies - managed to maintain level 4 for many months, earning a reasonable income and helping my chosen power.

I am still doing trading and missions in his area and it is really more profitable per hour than doing PP.

Also, after having millions worth of bounty on my head, I am trying to keep it clean these days to avoid being set upon by the authorities at an inappropriate time.

I am sure PP will survive as there are still plenty of dedicated CMDR's out there, but for me, its time for a new career.

Power play is grind that most people did because of the bonus weapons. now that there is new grind for engineers with better bonuses they don't have time to power play and engineers or reason to work for worse bonuses.

Fdev introduce so many grindy elements to game that they close other parts of the game for players. No one have time for engineers and power play grind and new harder Ai. Fdev really need to get their stuff together and start redesigning their game if they want to people do more than one stuff at a time.

I un-pledged, it makes the game a grind getting dicted at almost every turn, I can now out run them, but it's now nothing more than a time waster.

PowerPlay just became a casual farm simulator for a lot of people, until 2.1, now all of the casuals are unpledging and powerplay will be truly barren until FDev decides to spruce it up.

It's always been a dip-in dip-out kind of thing, people just thought it was Elite: Dangerous 2 when it released because there was nothing else to do. Now that that is changing the population is going to disperse even wider. You'll see some people getting back into it after they make the game even more boring for themselves by farming engineer equipment though, don't worry.

I will remain pledged to Archon as I like the community and atmosphere, and it favours my RP, but I'm letting my 5th rank drop. It's impossible to maintain it now, apart from heavy fortification (which doesn't count however because it's relatively boring and will cost me most of my weekly salary).
The lower ranks aren't worth keeping either - the 4th pays 5 millions per week, which is nothing. A few minutes of trading in my 'Conda and I have that.

It's a shame that Powerplay is getting overlooked, especially with the 2.1 update which pretty much broke it.

I haven't touched PP; I like the idea of it - but I don't like constantly looking over my shoulder for some angry NPC from an opposing team entering deep into enemy territory just to destroy an innocent loyal trader. lol

I've never powerplayed and likely never will unless it's completely reimagined. Ironically it was one of the features I was most looking forward to until I saw how it was designed and implemented. IMO it should have worked with (or been an extension of) existing BGS/minor faction/mission mechanics with some minor factions being, in effect, pledged to a power. In that way, players would support or undermine a faction in a system by supporting minor factions through missions and other activities. CGs, conflict zones, POIs and missions given directly by powers could also be worked in. Oh, and rep/rank/whatever decay needs to die in a fire.

I have done Powerplay, but only to get the faction-specific modules. I'm currently not pledged to any Powerplay faction and will not pledge until there is a considerable gain to do so. I do not count relentless interdictions as 'gains'. :)

I didn't play much at all after I found out I had to keep the rank. I don't have enough time for that. And I unpledged with 2.1 because of the constants fights over a faction I really don't care about anymore.

Never did power play, never will.

And it seems it was a good choice considering the Interdiction Elite NPC's that are out there now!

Interdicted>Blasted with modded weapons> DEAD!

Hardcore mode enganged!

looked at it, poked it with a stick and then threw the stick away because it was covered in "stuff".

spend more hours than I have available to play, for very little gain..... oh wait sounds familiar......

or Nope.

It was never something that interested me to begin with with, so I never pledged or participated at all.

I was interested when PP first came out, but after two weeks of being pledged I quickly learned that it was not for me at all. Simply being pledged increases interdictions far too much, and I just really didn’t like having most of the galaxy angry at me and out gunning for me. I am primarily an explorer, with occasional mining and trading and mission running, plus a bit of combat stuff now and then, so since PP is so incredibly combat focused, well it just really doesn’t offer anything positive for me but it does come chock full of what I would call negatives for me. So I unpledged and have not bothered with it at all since.

And from the sounds of it 2.1 has made PP even MORE combat focused than it already was!

So no, I do not Power Play, and unless the feature undergoes drastic changes, I won’t be.
