I'll start by whinging, then ask my question being the main point of thread; so you can skip the whinge if you like.

Whinge:

Anything RNG based in the game (which lets face it, their is a lot of) has never happened for me, and not for lack of trying..

I have never seen a Thargoid, through hyperdiction, barnacle scan, base scan etc. I have never been able to activate the Thargoid machine because an Unknown Link has simply never spawned despite 6 separate visits with the Probe and Artifact (Probe given to me)...As far as i know this isn't even supposed to be RNG!!

I've never found an Unknown Probe, despite clocking up probably 12 hours looking.

Question:

Have FD confirmed that USS are just borked yet or not? Im trying to get rep with Sirius to unlock Palin and most of the missions their are salvage ones (go to a system, scan, go to the body, find the "Mission" USS). I've done many of these before, and never have i had to circle a sun for 4 hours and not find it, go to another system to try and do another one and spend 2 hours with the same lack of luck. They used to be a 10 minute job. Given that they are paying 40k and 52k respectively i don't think its a particularly good time time investment.

This issue, as many of you will know first hand is also prevalent with the Probe.

Well i guess the question had some whinge also added in ^^.

I was lucky enough to see a Thargoid at the barnacles with only a short wait, but I've not tried to see the latest stuff because it all sounds potentially very frustrating. I've seen plenty of reports on here similar to yours - people who've made a real effort to access this content only to be defeated by what amounts to bad luck (assuming things are working as intended). I just think there must be a better way. People who want to access this content and are prepared make the effort to do so shouldn't have to go home empty handed.

I was havin a bad night on the forums sorta midweek...needed something cos I was fading fast...

Found a fairly large elw, a giant water world and 2 standard ww all in the one system...karma [yesnod]

FD could really impress me now by having the thargoid fleet intercept me in my last 4klys to jacques and have me killed before I cash in the find.

If they dont, Ill be a misery guts to them on the forums fer a month ^

Dunno if USS is borked but I did find those in space salvage mission types infuriating.

i believe once you enter system either drop out at nav beacon, scan it and the local planet where the mission USS will spawn will update.

you have to stay within 10Ls of target destination to get the mission to spawn, I usually stayed at min SC speed.

However, I saw a Canon how to guide to get UA spawns and it talked about dropping down too slow to cause a timer to reset to something like 3 mins before a USS can spawn, not sure how accurate this is, but 3 mins "doing nothing" waiting for a spawn is an interminable age.

I feel the same. Most of my Engineer roles are "meh", but this is usually fine as I don't PvP.
I've never triggered a hyperdiction.
And interesting stuff always happens when I'm offline.
I also seem to avoid NPC Interdictions all together. No one even tries attacks me. I hardly even get ganking attempts in PvP.

I will confirm my theory when the Thargoids attack in full force, and I still don't meet one. :p

It's either FD have me on the naughty list, or I've somehow broken the game.

Just decided to do a dif planet based mission and the item i need to salvage is 3.5k underground...I think its break time again :S.

Yup. I'm on the Thargoid official 'Do not probe under any circumstance' list too. I must have some kind of 'Goid devastating communicable disease.

I'm hanging around Maia with artefact pieces in my hold and like:

Don't feel alone. Some of these items require an extended effort (ahem, grind) to accomplish.

I saw the alien display because of a group effort by fellow wing members. I've visited locations for aliens related items that were found by others, group effort. Getting the 100 mill for the alien base (relics, I think) I passed. Don't do well in an SRV. And I don't base scan well either.

I haven't been intercepted/scanned by a Thargoid. It'll happen eventually.

Short answer, welcome to the club. But I enjoy other things, I recently modded rail guns and they are fun to use, fireworks!

Just out of curiosity, how is someone supposed to know all these little factoids without scouring the interwebs for clues? Truth be known, without this forum and a mention on the mission boards, I would never know Thargoids exist. All the tricks and methods to get this or that to spawn, how to approach things.. seems esoteric in nature. That's probably because it's part of the GalNET or other resource that I simply ignore. I've never read it, and outside of the powerplay grind I did for awhile, I have no idea what the backstories are for the leaders.

That's what's great about this game (imo) is that I can play for years and never get into any of that, and still have a complete game experience.

I also have never seen a Thargoid outside of its native You tube environment. I've stopped going to the Pleiades now.

My connection is v poor tho and I'm always getting disconnected mid mission or mid robbery. (So frustrating when you lose a 100 tons of diamonds coz internet.)
