Do you gain combat XP even ifyou don't claim the bounty?

I've got lots of bounties that I could cash in, but they're all over the place and I don't need the credits anyway. Will I lose xp if I fail to collect them?

Combat progression is received when you make the kill. You get it for killing anything with a rank close to, or greater than yours; whether they be police, pirates, traders etc etc.

Yes you will gain exp. You dont loose exp when not claiming bountys.
Combat ranking has nothing to do with money only with kills and ranking of the enemy.
