General / Off-Topic Do you Go Back to RCT2?

Has anyone gone back to RCT 2 recently?

I made an awesome park once - so pleased with it, and I do sort of miss the grid-based system for adding rides and terraforming. However the freestyle of PC is quite nice.

I do have RCT2 and 3 music in PC though :p

The only problem I had with RCT3 is that near the end of the missions there is a sandy map where two of the challenges refer to different types of theming.

My version crashes (on Windows 10) at a certain point (maybe 10 mins after playing, or sometimes an hour) on this map. To be honest, I haven't tried any missions after, so it might just be that map.

I haven't since the PC alpha came out but last time I played was about a year ago. I would go back to RCT2 and 3 at least once a year before PC.

I always liked RCT1 over RCT2 for some reason. I beat every scenario of the original RCT plus most of the expansion levels. RCT2 offered a lot more but something about it put me off, I think the scenarios in the original had some great designs to them.

It took me a long time to get into RCT3 because I found it to be a bit more complicated, but it eventually grew on me once I realized how much more it really offered. I built quite a few enormous parks in sandbox mode, but the scenarios were always lacking for me. The same goes for PC, its going to take a long time for me to feel like PC is superior to the originals.

I think its really cool that ClassicRCT is now available on mobile along with RCT3, but if I were to play the classics it would be with OpenRCT2 which is really amazing IMO

I also think the game Theme Hospital is great fun if your into the old school style management games. It has a great art style and humor to it, and it was also recently improved slightly with some user created patches and new levels!

I think a lot of people still play RCT2 because of OpenRCT2. OpenRCT2 added a lot of cool features (multiplayer, ...) and will also remove a lot of limites in the future. + You can already import RCT1 scenarios directly and in the future the game will be fully compatible with RCT1 directly import. And a lot of rct1 things which were missing were already added into the game. (boosters, steep hills for junior coaster,...) So nobody would need RCT1 in the future anymore.

I'll play a scenario or two every now and then with OpenRCT2 (I prefer RCT1 scenarios over 2). I don't make my own parks like I do with Planet Coaster though, I play for scenario based gameplay when I'm having a nostalgic itch.
