Do you know your manatees?

Have people know about their manatees.

So, we went for a pre-hurricane visit to the beach this evening with the dogs. As we approached the beach, Brad (my son) yells "look we have to go into the water to save an animal!!!", as it appeared to be a beached whale, or pod of dolphins at first. After getting a bit closer and finding out what really was going on from a local that was there...

...it was a huge manatee cow, with several smaller males courting and trying to mate with her. It was a strange place to see this...literally only 10-12 feet from shore. The person there seemed to know a lot about this and said while it was normal behavior, the location was a bit weird. They were not beached and seemed to move about in the water with ease and were not in any danger. She had been watching them move up and down the beach for over 2 hours already. (and I have to say...the beach was littered with huge manatee turds that washed up in the surf).

Was a once in a life time sight seeing this going on literally feet from us.

It was great. I didn't get any good pictures unfortunately, but enjoy the video
