Do you see the frost forming on the window?

Nine Efficient beams on a T10 with Thermal Vent, heat down to 2%:

Well, I thought it was cool... (pardon the pun). :)

Yep. See it happen when dropping heatsinks too, or shutting down most of a ship's systems to repair.
It's a nice touch.

interesting.
I'd imagine that should effectively make you drop off their sensors unless they're within visual range.

My Python's 2x Medium Long Range Beam Turrets with Thermal Vent are getting me down to 0% on a regular basis.

Working like a charm!!

The crackling, freezing effect on my canopy will never be the same. Thank you.

[EDIT]
How do thermal vents work ? It says its power is based on ship's heat.
So your beams get a bonus until your ship starts running cold?
Then they revert to normal damage ?

I believe you're mixing it up with Thermal Conduit. Which works in the manner you described. (Although there are numbers, to which escape me. Something like 50% heat and above they start being more effective? Don't quote me on that, I don't use them so it's not something that sticks in my brain)

IIRC Thermal Vent, literally throws all heat produced into the beam. If you strike your target successfully and a connection between yourself and your target is made, it acts as a bridge and your heat is dispersed unto your target.
If fired at nothing or missed strikes, your beams experience greater heat output than normal, due to there being no effective "bridge".

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Oh man I *loved* this effect when it was first introduced way back. :)

I don't think Thermal Vent affects damage output at all. It just reduces ship heat when hitting a target (and increases heat a little when you miss).
