Do you still care?

Not attempting to change anything with this, just curious. If they were to do away with ship transfer times and module shipping as well, and make everything instantly accessible, would you mind?

I remember immersion being a big deal when FD was implementing this and since then they added a few more time sinks into the game. I was wondering if it’s still important for the immersion, or not.

For me, it’s really not that big of a deal either way. Even with limited play time I can still access most things in a timely manner but I do wonder how I’d feel with instant access to everything at all stations.

I'm like you and I'm fine either way. As I play ED in bite size chunks with occasional marathons when I have a holiday I find it just one of the elements where I have to plan ahead i.e. Just as I reach a good time to stop playing for the night, I'll trigger my ship transfer if I can. It's done when i get back to it. I like this "thinking ahead" and planning aspect of the game. Its the project manager in me and probably one of many reasons why I like the game so much and working with or around it's mechanics.

No. I would love that change to happen. Why? Because after spending an hour (or longer) getting somewhere in your ultra-fast sports car, having to log out for another 2 hours (or longer) while your pickup truck and tools transfer is a bit daft. It's a game, not a life simulator.

Here's my take on it from a Solo player standpoint:

I cannot care about these things. Once I start trying to care something gets nerfed or buffed, the rules change, stupid concepts are introduced and I feel like Solo players get masked off to even less and less playable content. So I don't care at this point if ships instantly transfer or not. It's not going to affect the game I play one bit. I wouldn't care if everyone could jump to Colonia in half the time they can now. There's nothing to do there but turn around and come back, or resume basically the same career funnel you had in the bubble with similar results (just nothing to do with the Cr since you're out there... ).

The only reason I do care about it anyhow is because a lot of other players who don't play Solo, who engage in team play, who invested in the startup and help drive the game development actually do care and don't want to see the immersion of their game ruined by hit and run gamers wanting an easy button that affects everyone. So from that perspective, sure I care. Otherwise, no.

Why would I feel any differently?

It would make things stupidly easy if a player could simply dock at a station and instantly gain access to whatever ships/modules they required.

Foresight and preparation should be rewarded.

Yep. I still care.

Still think telepresence for multi crew was the wrong decision. Would anyone care if they changed that? I always thought the best use for multicrew was exploring in shifts and giving people lifts rather than pew-pew :D

If you're going to have instant transfer of modules and ships lets also have fast travel to avoid all that tedious flying to different areas :)

Immersion is subjective but one thing ED does really well is convey a sense of the vast scale of the galaxy (even if you can travel at theoretically impossible speeds), I think that instant transfer would not be in keeping with maintaining that sense of scale.

So, yes, I would mind.

I'd like to have transfer times cut down by 1/3. And prices by 3/4.
But not so eager for instant stuff. It does hurt immersion.
But difficulty should not be measured with time.

Thing is, because FDev are scroodgy on adding diversification, they have to half-rear everything.
The speed around stars relative to size/distance is too high, compared to that around planets. It hurts sense of scale too much. I don't belive I have to feel claustrophobic around those things. And all of that because they are trying to adjust one travel system for all purposes.

Telepresence is a good idea, the galaxy is too big for meeting up.

Having to deal with logistics is always a plus in my book (I'm a wargamer and a management sim junkie), so delayed transfers stays.

It still annoys me that transfer times have effectively rendered ship transfer close to useless.
I'd rather see transfer times scrapped but I'd settle for a good reduction in time.
For some people waiting for something to happen is fun I guess... Oo

Plan ahead, if the transfer happens while you are logged off there's no waiting involved.

Planning ahead or not it's still a fun sucking feature.

Anything that highlights one players poor choices compared to another's is going to suck the fun for the person who made the bad decision and provide the fun for the person who made the good one.

To avoid fun sucking, make good decisions.

I like planning ahead.

I like having fun.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can convince me that transfer times were or are a good idea.
I have seen no evidence what so ever that transfer times added anything to gameplay or enjoyment.
They were put in to appease the 'I' word crowd and people wonder why we don't get improvements to things like HGSS finding. Frontier have been convinced that we like unnecessary impediments to our enjoyment.
While your opinion differs (as is your right) I'll not be convinced other wise. So I'll respectfully leave it at that.
