Do you think that having so many dinosaurs from the previous game will help the improvements in JWE2

I was thinking that at JWE we got to 68 species. For JWE2 there will be more flying and marine reptiles but for dinosaurs I do not expect a high number if there will be more than 75 (and I suspect that it will be less than 80 or Frontier would say 80). Synthesizing, that from 68 to +75 are very few new species and that does not seem bad to me, on the contrary, it seems good to me.

This is very important to me. They have focused more on AI improvements etc than creating new species and that is very good.

Thinking about future updates I think they will focus less on adding dinosaurs than on continuing to improve management, which is what should really matter to us since JWE was too simple and easy.

I think you’re half right. The base game will focus more on new major features, but subsequent dlc will likely be the same as before: dino packs and the occasional new feature/campaign.

Absolutely rite, better play with less dinos with proper behaviors than tons of them but all seems like animatronic.
Remember what hammond said back in OG film, "We have no animatronics here..".

I do like a range of dinos but as others say having a strong base to expand upon is a the best move. They are giving us a larger selection in the base game which is good and DLCs/expansions will bring more which I personally think will also give some replayability to campaign missions.

I hope every Dinosaur from JWE makes it over to JWE 2. I like them all. Except the Hybrids. I know the Indominusrex and the Indoraptor will be in the game. But the Stegoceratops and Ankylodocus aren't my favorites. The Spinoraptor is ok but I didn't use it much. I just want actual real dinosaurs. Was never a fan of hybrids.

Supposedly JWE2 will have over 75 new dinosaurs. I guess they lumped the flying reptiles and marine reptiles in with the dinosaurs which is fine. So JWE had 68 dinosaurs. If we get 75 new dinosaurs that means that means 7 new dinosaurs and that's ok. If we get 80 that would be 12 more and I don't see an issue with that. That's perfectly respectable. The 68 we have in JWE plus 12 more. That is quite a few dinosaurs. Also remember that they will have better textures so they will look better, they will have better AI and animations from what I heard. So it will be like they are completely new though we saw them in JWE, but they won't exactly be the JWE dinosaurs. They will be improved versions. If we get all the JWE dinosaurs. I can't see Frontier just throwing them away cause they looked really good in JWE. That game has amazing looking dinosaurs. Till JWE2 comes along and they will take the place of best looking dinosaurs.

Then Frontier can make dinosaur DLC's and I would buy them just like I did for the first game. Just make them and I will buy them.

One thing that I'd wondered about is why not modify the previous JWE stuff to flag certain dinosaurs and skins as available in JWE2.

Perhaps 1 of the dinosaurs from each pack and some of the skins for the others would be granted in JWE2 if you owned it with the original...it would mean that there would be more people buying the JWE stuff to add it to the sequel and be a way to up the dinosaur count.

Well 68 critters in JWE, subtract the 3 hybrids, that leaves 65. Frontier likes doing things in a small/medium/large format, so I figure 3 marine and flying reptiles each at launch, that's 71. I figure a couple of new dinos, that could get us to 75 at launch. The + just means the game can support more, which would be dlcs. I'm sure Frontier already has a road map for adding new species, what and when but will not tell us that. I expect a dlc, one day after Dominion releases.

Thier focus is where it needs to be right now, park management and species interaction, which is the core of the game that needs to take a quantum leap forward from JWE.

Of course it's just pure speculation on my part.

IF JWE2 was an update to the existing game, that could work, BUT we know that JWE2 is a brand new game, be it based on an improved version of the original, that how do you know if the player owns the original, especially on console

I wondered the same thing. Some dinos like brachiosaurus, triceratops, stegosaurus, and t-rex are simply to iconic to leave out and there’s obviously more I didn’t name. But I was hoping for many new dinosaurs if a sequel ever happened. Here’s my guess I absolutely love PZ and the dlcs included a lot of animals that should have just been in the base game from the start. Maybe they wanted to guarantee dlc would sell but they could have offered them much differently and they’d still sell without a problem. Now with this game I notice a lot of returning faces which means dlc could be really spectacular for this game. Obviously you don’t want a stegosaurus as a dlc item so it makes sense really. I really do like all the dlcs for PZ and own all of them but a jaguar, polar bear, kangaroo, and so on should be base game animals leaving slots open for more unique animals which I’m guessing is the strategy here. You may even see some familiar faces in dlc but maybe many new also.

I don't mean an update version thing, just have a few dinosaurs that would be a DLC based on owning the DLC for the original.

The Total War Warhammer games did that with several armies only being available if you had the prior games.

You also had things like that in the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing...until they remade the entire thing into a single thing using the 3rd game.

And a lot of games have features where you only get certain things if you import stuff from the previous games.

What's important is depth, not breadth. Give me just 30 dinos, rather than more than seventy, but with actual AI.
This is why I raise this debate. There is nothing necessary to add a lot of dinosaurs to this sequel because we already have many (but many many) of the previous game already made. With 4 or 5 that are unique type Therizinosaurus or Concavenator is more than enough to have a very complete roster (I leave the marine and flying reptiles out of this debate).

Again, on PC easy to do, console not so.

It should help cause it means they don't have to build so many dinosaurs from scratch. They already have a bunch made.

Consoles have done the same sort of thing with games that have an import feature. Such as Mass Effect, or even older with the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games having bonus' if you have any saves from the first game while playing the second.

We’re not getting all of the JWE dinosaurs in JWE 2, I assume. With more pterosaurs and marine reptiles as well as new land dinosaurs the devs are gonna make cuts to less popular dinosaurs, and all hybrids other than I Rex and the Indoraptor

I think that would be really cool actually. Maybe having something like (and I’m just spitballing) Chasmosaurus and Huayangasaurus return through dlc alongside something like Oviraptor and Shunosaurus as a sort of deluxe pack

Why is everyone assuming that all the JWE dinos, minus the hybrids not starting with Indo, are not being carried over? That's only 65 species.

The game supports 75+, so based on what JWE launched with, I guess we can see 12 new species spread across the 3 types, air/land/marine. That's quite a bit. Why waste resources on a larger number of new species, 3D modeling, rigging, basic animation, complex animation, AI, GUI, etc, when those limited resources are needed for the new features, Deeper Management for park employees/staff, Territories, Pack Hunting, Customization of buildings/dinos, etc. for launch. It's called resource management.

The real question is what the upper limit of the + is, or even if there is one.

I feel that there will be enough new content and the learning curve to keep everyone semi content for 3 mos, which is when I expect our 1st DLC with new stuff. This buys another 3 mos of grace until Dominion and we get the tie in DLC a week or two after film release. We then should be on a DLC schedule, 3-6 mos between, until Frontier announces no more new content.
