Do you think that Lakon should release a Type 8?

I'd like to see something similar to the type 7 that can actually fit on a medium pad so that we can trade and run cargo missions to all of those lonely outposts out there.

I'd like Lakon to consider this seriously as there's a huge gap in the market ship that can compete for carrying capacity with a python...

Edit: I'm aware there's federal dropships that we can use but they are strictly limited to those that have good rep with the feds.

Well i think frontier should focus on adding ships/vehicles that feel different from current ships. More srvs, ships that are bigger than current big three and don't feel like WWII planes and more like big space ships (so big that can't dock at space stations and need smaller ships to do the hauling between ship and station). They need to do ship launch ships, and/or give more purpose and stuff we can do with launched fighters/ships.

Another ship that function, feel and look identical to 3-4 ships we already have in game won't move this game forward.

It is a legacy from the ancient Earth tribe of Britannia's Church of Monty Python that there should always be one empty numerical designation. In this case it is "There is no T8" and it is in homage to:

;)

If the T7 could fit on a medium pad and the Python had less cargo space it would make too much sense. If a T7 can't fit on a medium pad but a T8 could I'd promptly go smash every T8 I encountered for not making sense.

The T7 can fit on a medium pad. It's actually shorter and more narrow than a Python. It's however a few inches too tall to fit inside the medium pad hangar. :D
Probably as a result of miscommunication between the department who designed the stations and the designer of the ship.
It's intentional to force it out of a niche. They're well aware.

I'm not bothered if it's called a T8, Copperhead, or Bumblebee. I'd really like another ship, that doesn't require ranking, to compete with the Python.

Whether it's a step up or to the side, I don't care. Just a similar medium pad multirole ship. Pretty please.

The Type-7 is a relatively small fraction of the price of a Python.

A very fair point, but I think their relative differences still validate that gap, and tbh I'm not bothered about the T7, far keener to see a competitor for the Python.

May be the Lakon MRT8, multi-role trader. It almost sounds cool...

Who says the Type-8 should be a medium or large pad?

Would be awesome to see a small pad T-series. A single Size 5 internal, and smaller internals for other things. It would be a big small ship, but would fit on a small pad no less.

Actually a T4 would be fun, but the Adder and the Hauler kind of fill that gap imho, and does the game really need more small ships at this point?

Perhaps FDEV could introduce small pad only outposts, to get us back into our small ships?

Course, if the T7 could fit on a medium pad, then you'd have to wonder about the role of the T6. :p

The basic problem is that we've got 3 sizes of ship and there's only 2 different classes of destination - those with s/m pads and those with s/m/l pads.
As a result of that, ships in 1 of the 3 sizes are always going to be redundant.

If it was up to me, I would have made the Keelback and T6 into small-pad ships and then set the game up so that some destinations ONLY had small pads.

While I'm at it, if the T7 can fit on a medium pad but it's too tall to fit into the hangar, it might've been nice if the game would allow you to land on the pad and do all the stuff you can do on the pad but not enter the hangar for refitting etc.
I'm guessing that can't happen because quitting the game while landed on a pad means you restart inside the hangar. [sad]

I'd say a Cobra Mk IV is closer to my impression of a T-8. But that ship is locked out of reach for most players now.

Perhaps a T-8 could be used to provide an alternative option for those without access to the Cobra. Perhaps even a dedicated mining ship?

Shame really.

Introducing asteroid bases was an opportunity to create some content exclusive to small ships.
After all, it's fairly plausible that a base under construction might only have the most basic docking facilities.
