Do You think This Is Cheating...

A wing of 3 (Clipper, Asp, Vulture (maybe something else)) interdict my fully-loaded-with-Palladium Anaconda. I submit, boost, jump back in SC, then IMMEDIATELY drop back into normal space and boost-boost-boost for while, then go back SC until they try to interdict me again, at which point I drop back into normal space and repeat, until I get fed up and switch to Solo. I fly to the station in Solo, then switch back into Open while at the station.

They show up at the station and they call me out for "combat logging", say they have video, they reported me to FD (LOL), etc...

What does the hive-mind think? Was I cheating, or playing using the game mechanics as intended by the Devs?

That's not cheating. It's simply playing within the constricts of the game. If it makes pew-pews unhappy, that is their loss and not yours.

As you did nothing wrong, you have no fear of anything bad from FD - as you did nothing wrong.

Now, if you had lulzbanned and DOS'd the pew-pews and ordered them 15 pizzas each, that would be something bad and FD could be reasonably expected to be rather upset, as would local Plod :D

You used what the game offers and how it is designed to be used, its the opposite of cheating.

And for combat logging, as the name says, you need to log out while in the middle of combat which you werent. Some people just use that word for everything for no good reason, just ignore them. Some people get mad when you not sit still and wait to be shot at.

It's not cheating. FD have said the submit-boost-jump is not working as intended but that does not mean you can be punished for what you did. Maybe your pursuers believed you had logged because they couldn't see you when they re-entered SC. Either way not cheating :)

In normal space, not under combat, you logged out of the game and when you logged back in you chose a different mode to avoid non-consensual pvp?

Nothing outside of the rules, nor the spirit of the game. They tried to interdict you multiple times and lost. They should have picked a different prey for their "emergent gameplay"

"Pew pew, pew pew, pew, pew, barney, mcgrew, cuthbert, dibble, grubb!"

I'm pretty sure it was HIP 116213 during the community goal. I normally use that area for trading and it was a bit of a shock to see all these pew-pews show up.

<launches game launcher, sets target destination> Going to see if I can have some fun with pew-pews :)

No, that was using the game mechanics (well, those that functioned) to head on in. Combat Logging is taking action to disconnect yourself when you are in danger of losing your ship and cargo (such as resetting your computer or disconnecting it from the network).

Log off and switching to solo while not in combat is not considered as a cheat although the entire existence of solo is cheat against (true) open players (essentially).

Please direct this argument to the solo vs open thread, i think you will find some interesting points there!

Going to solo is no cheating and using INGAME mechanics is by far not as well, haha.

Though, try to stay in open. It is fun for everyone :p

I laughed so much I nearly spilled my beer. "True" open players? You are having a laugh, right? People can play in any way they want to - and until you pay them to perform specific tasks for you, you have no reasonable expectation of anything from anyone.
