Docked with a bounty = banned from playing game for a week?

So I am docked in a high security station after getting a bounty for accidentally shooting someone when they flew in front of me. There is no option to pay the bounty as apparently I have to wait a week (why?!) to pay bounties now.

If I try to leave, I will get shot by the station security as I have a bounty. But I cannot pay the bounty. So this means I am stuck in the station/not palying for a week?

Really?

So I have basically been banned from playing the game for a week? What?

no.
The police will only shoot you if they scan you.
fairly small chance of that.
leave the station, boost boost boost, jump.

If you are really worried, buy a sidewinder, then let them shoot you :)

Not sure that's true. Best bet.... buy a sidey and test a speedy exit.

Also... unless you killed that person, should only be a short bounty... a matter of minutes for stray fire. Check your transactions screen. If it has resolved to a fine, just pay it.

The station won't fire unless you get scanned. Even if you do, boost boost out to get clear and jump to a nearby system

Or, if you have the spare money and if the station has a ship store, buy a surrender, sell modules, leave station, get scanned and killed for the cost only of surrender insurance (your bounty becomes dormant)

Good luck!

Edit; uber-ninja'd!

If you dont want to boost your way out of trouble just undock, disconnect and reconnect. However this is something only cowards would do. Undock and boost right trough the letterbox :)

No.

Accidental friendly fire is met with a 400 credit, 10 minute Bounty.

10 minutes.

Always check your transactions tab the moment you get the WANTED status pop up - it's all there.

Upon expiry of said 10 minutes, you can either hyper-jump to another system, jump back and pay off the bounty or you can save, exit and launch the game again and you'll be able to pay off the bounty via the Contacts tab.

Anything more than a ten minute bounty and you did far, far more than accidentally shooting someone. Sort of like accidentally shooting someone again.....and again.....and again.....and again.

Run.

If you don't have enough shields/ speed to run from NPC's that may or may not shoot on sight you're in serious trouble anyway.

I'm wanted in most of the ports I dock at because I do assassination missions (they don't tell you if people are wanted or not) but idc because I'm cold blooded and system security are incompetent.

But yes if you can't escape you are banned from playing for a week, GL.

Undock and use Silent Running or boost praying they won't scan you.

Bounties are bounties - it's a prize for your head, you can't simply pay it off.

Also, you shouldn't have skipped trigger finger discipline classes in the Pilot's Academy, Commander!

Can you explain, did you 'accidentally' shoot someone (still not sure how you managed that but is only a short bounty 10 mins or so) or did you 'accidentally' kill someone (7 day bounty).

Seriously some of these bounty posts read like car insurance claim forms.

The other night I snuck my wanted ship into a station no problem. Logged off and the next day hopped in and boosted through the slot and went about my merry way, still wanted in hostile territory.

If you accidentally shoot someone, and they and their wing turn hostile, you need to kill or be killed by the 3 hostile vipers etc

So I dutifully go back to the nearest station to pay off the high bounty on my head (incidentally they owe me more in bounties on the people I killed), yet I cant. This game is getting worse and worse.

It was fine (no pun intended) before. Why make it so we have to do stupid workarounds like buy and then destroy a sidewinder so that you can pay the fine? Madness.

The chance of getting scanned leaving a station or pretty small and chances are when the scan is completed you'll already have left mass lock so you wont be trapped. What ship are you currently flying and is it shielded?

I've docked and undocked in enemy territory a few times with over a 300k bounty and not had a problem. Scans are easy enough to avoid on both ingress and egress unless you're in something really slow and unwieldy. Even then you'd have to be doing something extremely wrong to actually be caught out on your way out and destroyed.

If you do get hostile for friendly fire the only real option is to to run, not fight back, that shouldn't be a problem against npcs, even in Vipers.

I've been a very bad boy and I'm wanted in several systems next to my "home", that doesn't stop me from doing missions (and docking) in those systems, as others have said, just don't get scanned.
Get in, do your business and get out. Ninja-style! :p

I switched to a sidewinder and crashed into the walls of the station. I have now respawned about 150 light years away from where I was.

Sigh. This game is very very annoying thee days. Why did they mess with what was working :(

Yes, you can.

Wait 10 minutes and pay it off, in this specific instance, of course.

See my post above.

Why is no one listening to this man^^^^^

If all you did is clip them via friendly fire then It expires after 10 minutes!!!!

Ahhh ok get it now, you didnt know about the change so went back to the station. You were lucky you werent blown up trying to get in. What you should have done is either left the system for 7 days or not care and just fight / run from security.

buy a sidewinder, launch in it get you self killed and then pay off the bounty

whilst I am not moaning at you for suggesting this if it works, and i certainly would not blame op for doing it if it works.... I do hope this exploit is fixed. It seems a daft mechanism to clear your bounty.

Hopefully (from my POV I am sure many will differ) FD will implement a claims history on our insurance policy, leading to increased excesses and finally no insurance till we fly can x number of hrs ingame with out a claim.

I always felt the purpose of elite was to mimimise getting our ships blown up not use them as a disposable commodity.

as for bounties not been payable off. I am all for that, it is one of the best mechanisms FD have implemented recently imo.

I am not saying what constitutes a fine and which is a bounty does not need fiddling with (although I have not fallen foul YET) but people insta clearing their bounties after committing multiple crimes totally screwed up the bounty hunter profession and stopped players for avenging themselves when blown up.
