Docking announcements VS custom Ship ID.

When i dock my Cobra for example i am called 'DeLacy Victor Alpha Sierra' because my Name in game is Vasco. (The first 3 letter of my commanders name)

However since the introduction of Ship naming i have adopted a scheme for ship ID's that are personal to me.

VSS-01
VSS-02
Etc..

Given that Elite Dangerous can already create a unique Docking announcement (as stated above) couldnt the game go a tiny bit further and announce..

Victor Sierra Sierra - Zero One

The phonetic alphabet voice samples already exist in game, The Numeric voice samples just need to be added. (and maybe the 'dash')

?

I noticed the same thing last night and it kind of bugs me now that we have Ship IDs. I get Saud Kurger Hotel Echo Yankee when my Ship ID is VULCAN for obvious reasons.

Numeric voice samples are already in.

"DeLacy - Bravo Lima One", can attest to that :)

Probably to prevent an invasion of Delacy Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrots

And for the record, Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot is already my own personal ID scheme, as I spend a lot of time wondering Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot do I do now?

There are a couple of threads out there with similar suggestions. I honestly thought FD might have introduced this with 2.3 gold, especially as the store page for the Boundary Ship ID plate says:

"Ships in the 34th Century still need to be identified by shorthand. For clarity of communication Traffic Control, System Security and even Military organisations will routinely refer to vessels by their ID rather than their full name."

Of course this is also the same page that initially said that Boundary came with an included Name Plate, so it's hardly gospel. It would be nice to have this feature implemented though.

Thanks for pointing that out. I surmised in one of the other threads that FD could obtain numerics by extracting them from the landing pad assignment voices. I hadn't realised they were already valid for IDs obtained from CMDR names. It's good to know. Now they have even less of an excuse for not putting this in. :)

The idea was raised up from me on beta 1, and they said might be interesting.. that's all the attention it had...

Never said anything about people being offended.. no need to be so defensive here ;-)

I love to poke fun at hypersensitivity - it's great.

Not being defensive, i agree with you. Some people who play this game are to easily offended and it seems to be reflected in Fdev policy.
