Docking Approach

Can someone point me to a thread talking about
Or
Tell me the best way to find the Entrance to a docking station??

I waste half my docking time finding the Entrance.

On a Coriolis station, if you are facing the entrance the station will appear to be rotating counter-clockwise. Look for the ads (which noticeably stick out from the entrance) as a means of confirming you have the right face.

I think all stations rotate that way, don't they?

– always rotate counter clockwise regarding docking entrance;
– docking entrance is always facing the planet that station is orbiting;

should be enough knowledge, i never have problems finding entrance, just take a look at station's rotation and go right for the right side :)

The letterbox always rotates anti-clockwise... If you think about it you should be able to work it out from that... Oh and several of the stations have advertising hoardings that give the game away as well....

You're mistaken... it varies...

While in supercruise try to maneuver your ship in between the station and the planet it orbits while approaching at an approximate 45deg angle from below or above the orbital plane of the planet. When exiting you will either appear directly in front of the mail slot entrance, or still in front but off to a side.

are you sure? because i always seen it that way, but i maybe mistaken :)

I find this helps...

1. Select contacts and target the station. A small image of it appears on the bottom left hand screen.

2. Look for a view of the slot on the small image screen. You can move your ship around and the station moves in relation to you - this usually helps to bring the slot into "view" and you can figure out where it is...

3. If you can't see lights - assume you are at the rear of the station. Aim to fly about 1 station width to one (I pick left) side and fly past. Click your release view button (centre button on my mouse) and look left to watch the station pass by... cool and helpful at the same time.

Also look for the tiny specs of ships heading towards the station - they are heading towards the entrance usually. It seems the game always spawns a couple for you.
