Docking bug ?

I have noticed that when I come to dock using the docking computer in a Lakon type 6, the ship some times is not central on the landing pad and when touched down the whole ship slides across the floor of the docking bay

Just bringing this issue to light, maybe its been brought up before but tagging on this forum never seems to produce relative search results

Cheers

Not that it helps, but the Anaconda DC does exactly the same thing. As a mere human (and before I got lazy), when manually docking a ship I would make a direct approach then decend almost vertically until I docked. It seems the DC likes to take a more leisurely approach and insists on doing a least a couple of handstands before sliding in from the side. Call me ol' fashioned but it's all a bit too hairy if you ask me! :D

One of the nicest things of this game is docking, why let the computer do it:S:S

Free to do what you want with your game, this is for sure, just to know:D

If docking is the most fun you can have in the game then its in trouble

Docking is extremely satisfying in this game. It isn't particularly challenging (though I haven't flown anything bigger than a Type 6 yet) but there is a little tension, hoping there is nothing large trying to get out as you're flying in, and the sound and graphics combine to give an extremely believable experience. When I arrive at a station I aim in front of the entrance, boost and switch off flight assist so I drift at maximum speed for the shortest journey. Once I have clearance I watch the approach, reactivating flight assist trying to time it so the ship is flying straight just as it lines up with the door. Getting that exactly right is the same little thrill you get from a good lap in a racing game or achieving a nice kill streak in an FPS. Or not dying in a fight in Elite Dangerous, I imagine.

The whole docking procedure with the Standard Docking Computer is insane once you get inside the dock. What is with all this oblique manoeuvring etc.

Roll the dock until it is ahead of you and below, point nose at dock, fly to dock, pitch up to level, drop vertically down when over the hotspot.

Why can't the docking computer mimic that?

I suspect a Mathematician on drugs came up with the docking route algorithm;)

Docking NPC's are the most funniest thing in this game!! But from what i see I will never givr my ship to "the Matrix":D:D

Thanks for all your views on the docking computer but this is a bug Im trying to bring to light not to find out wether people use it like etc
but thanks for the replys earthlings ;o)

I guess Im going to have to get back on the game with fraps recording and post it on youtube so what im talking of can be seen

The DC is currently known to be very flakey. Always raise a ticket though, so FD are aware of your personal experience.

Pfff!

Real pilots don't use no kiddy thrusters: align to dock, dive to dock. Stop before you go splat.

I can code them the algo, I know it's very complicated. :p

Why not just set up a macro on your own computer for this if you don 't like the manual method and the auto isn't good enough?

This is hurting my head now.

Wether you like the DC or not its part of the game. Some will use it and some wont

But for those who do there is a bug and this was an attempt to bring it to light

only 1 sensible reply has been given which was about creating a new ticket which has been done.

Thanks for raising the ticket.

The Lakon Type 6 has a (possibly related) bug with the docking pad "docked" point. I think it's set at/below floor level. :)

There were times I couldn't get the Type 6 to see it was docked. The workaround was to slam it down really, really hard. I must admit, the workaround was quite fun!
