Docking computer crashed my ship

As the topic states.

I arrived back at Chango dock, in a Hauler.

Engaged docking computer and put my feet up, to read forums, next I here the sounds of explosions, and im being offered the insurance screen...

so is it a Bug or can the docking computer fail, either way funny, unless you in something more expensive.

I have tried the docking computer in beta 1 and it crashed my ship the first try. I wont ever use it again (in beta).

Used to have this in old Elite sometimes as well. I think it was when it lined up with the back of the station, somehow thinking where was an entrance there too.

Was it the 'standard' docking computer or the 'comphrehensive' docking computer with protected bonus?

There is a difference you know...

The fine print will kill you.

With the various grades of Modules, I'm putting my credits down for " I bought the cheap auto docking system hoping it wouldn't mess up complex computations when avoiding other ships mid dock. When I should have bought the one that was a few grand more, but I'm a cheap bast."

+1

remind me to add you to my kos list. :D

I've never seen any other ADC but the standard. I know I have died while docking, but that cause has always been another player trying to be good and dock at full speed manual and using the auto dock lane rather than the manual lane... There are 3.

docking computer is dumb, works best when you line up right with the slot...

And even then it might slam into the pad and die.

personnally I don't see why I'd use the board comp to dock... I saw some Viper AI docking, and it scared the hell out of me, as the ship presented at the letterbox entrance face up.... So it obstruated me the whole exit and it couldn't go through anyway as the viper hasn't much multiple choices to position the entrance :D

Anyway, manual docking goes very very fast, don't waste your time with auto-docking

Try this, it might help when you control manually before you crashed:

The Docking / Docking Computer discussion thread..

Hi Everyone.

If you are having an issue with docking or would like to share your tips, ideas videos etc, pop in here and let us know. :)

The Newcomers Docking discussion thread..

I'm at Engle Orbit trying to dock but every time I try to request docking permission it is denied.

I take it ur waiting till ur 7km or less before u request docking? that could be the problem otherwise u may have to wait as they may be full , so just keep trying u will get in at some point.

All of the starter zones are going to be very busy. if you find yourself in this situation, and do not HAVE to park there ( for instance, a mission has to be completed there) take alook at the galaxy map and find a system close by that is the same.

So far I have seen 3 people get tried of waiting and start attacking each other and now I own 300 in fees for shooting at them :)

Hey,

what helps me almost always, is to log out and log back in in solo mode, dock, and switch back to open.

Cheers and fly safe!,
