Docking computer for leaving station

Really isn't this lazy, come on nobody needs to have auto take off and fly out of slot.

I'm lazy and I admit it. I have been flying Anaconda successfully out of the mailslot hundreds of times, but I'd rather have the computer do it. To be fair this is a game based 1000 years into the future, the computer would be doing it....

Let start looking at people who are posting like you. Spacemanz first log in 04/03/2018 and Mere Mortal 01/03/2018. Have you tried any of video or tutorials frontier listed on the game? a few days flying dose does not make you an expert on docking. So instead of going it too hard why not start practicing the tutorials and watching videos instead of asking for docking computers.

So you took a look at my forum age and made an assumption. What a great game community. I already know how to dock manually and did go through the tutorials. As I have said, I am looking at it a new player experience.

Yeah, forum age means nothing. I'm a few million from being an elite trader, have anaconda, cutter, python, and a bunch of other ships in storage. I just hate the mail slot.

There a few trick for this.

1 Watch your Radar. You can watch the ship coming and going. You can see how many ships are flying in front of you.

2 Target each ship. Then you can target each ship and see if they are flying at you or not.

While using both Radar and targeting each ship. You get a basic idea of ship location if he facing at you or not.

sorry I didn’t post to get help on how to fly my ship (though some may find your tips helpful) I’m 16 weeks game time and I’ve sussed out the radar and all that. What I was posting about was the annoyance of following the rules broadcast by the air traffic controller only to find the NPCs don’t abide by those rules and if you get clipped by one YOU still get a warning off the donut eater.

I don't know... (I mean I believe you, but maybe you have been relying on the DC all this time?)
I mean, I bought the game about 40 days ago.. and I had trouble going through the slot with my sidewinder at first, even mentioned it in a couple of my posts :D
And yes, I thought the slot is way too small, but compared to when I started I'm now always boosting with my Python after I take off (and it has a boost speed of 500...) and have no problem going through the slot.

When I bought the Anaconda, I was constantly scraping / hitting the side of the slot with the bottom.. so I loitered there for a few seconds to turn on the camera mode and check what my ship is actually doing.. I realized that due to the deck being way on top and literally nothing above that, you simply need to aim it as though you're planning on bumping your head into the ceiling and it goes through every time without hitting it.
What I'm trying to say is that imo. you simply need to remember how each ship handles and if you know where to aim it, it goes through every time.. I even advanced to the point where I'm actually pulling to the green side so tightly that 2 other Anacondas would fit through next to me.. so I'm actually enjoying that slot I hated so much at the beginning :)

That barbecue grate on the outside though.. that's just ugly and annoying imo, dunno who put that there... Also I only wish they increased the speed limit a bit.. to maybe like 150 so :D

Right, did you miss the part where I said I'm lazy? :p

I just find it ridiculous we are playing a game so far in the future, but the amount of automation is minimal only because of developers that said we'd have an autopilot, then saying we don't want it. I feel like this minimal automation doesn't conflict with their desire not to have an autopilot.

Nope, but at first you said it's too small for big ships.. then you said you're lazy.. then you said you're looking at it from a new player point of view and then finally you said you hate the mail slot..
So I didn't know ultimately which one is it..., that's why I threw in a general response :))

I was thinking about this the other day. Yes, I'd like an auto exit because I'm lazy. I had to remove the auto dock just recently though because I found out that you can't use silent running with it switched on.

I gotta say that I agree with OP on this one. I have several thousand hours in the game and would find such a feature helpful on some of my larger ships.

Failing the addition of departure automation, I would like STC to set and maintain a departure queue system where they could call off that your ship was cleared for departure through the slot - as long as the NPC ships were bound by the same system and rules.

Just my 2c

Even if not a queue, I agree with the previous posters that the 'Give way to larger vessels' SHOULD be enforced on NPCs as well.. I mean if the guy keeps yelling it.. might as well enforce it, no? :)
I stand aside when a Type 9 is coming through, even if I'm in a large ship myself, but then if the cobra thinks he's squeezing infront of me, then he better have good shields as he's getting pushed up on the walls by my conda with the nice and legal speed of 99... :p

I do think all those things. I remember getting my first type 6 transtporter, and then onto a federal dropship before the python. The mail slot is small though, some ships like beluga and type 10 take up more than 50% of the opening to leave, can't really have 2 way traffic with those ships.
