Docking near misses

So im entering one of the stations orbiting Earth not Abraham Lincoln but the other one with Chinese like name im in the letter box entering the station and a ship almost rams me up the ars after the station asks me to regulate my speed so why do i then get told off the AI ship was doing 99 through the docking entrance i was doing 50 as its tricky docking my Diamondback explorer in i spinning letter box is there not a way to make the AI know that another ship is in front of it so that it slows down to let you clear the entrance.

Hello, TerranJupiter. :)

+1. The AI is more than a bit funny, when it comes to flying through the docking slot too slowly. I assume this is because of some players deliberately blocking the slot to cause problems for other players, but the resulting lower-speed limit is a wee bit sharp.

This might well benefit from being looked at again - particularly if the NPC AI is assuming that all Commanders are flying above the minimum speed, something less likely in a larger ship that needs more precise control. :)

It happens the other way too, the AI ship gets 'lost' in the slot and stops dead in your way. If there isn't room to pass them then someone (the lighter ship) is going to get bounced around. Either way you get a warning for loitering.

Eventually you get the hang of docking at 80kph+ and keeping an eye on the radar for nearby ships.

Unfortuately there is no 'hazard warning' light on the ships to tell others to keep clear.

This is ok but when your landing pad is just inside the entrance to the station you have to slow down to make the manovers to land on your pad and 50 is more than fast enough isent it? the station tells you to watch your speed when you are docking to avoid crashes not that iv crashed yet sometimes i fined it hard to fined my pad as pad 01 is not always at the front of the station.

Docking pads near the letterbox are always a pain, specially in a slightly less maneuverable ship like a T6, but I find there's plenty of time so I just fly past, do a flip in the middles of the station and fly back to the pad, then do a pirouette over the pad and down all in a couple of minutes at the most. There really is no urgency in docking.

Use autodock.
Just flip her in neutral, drink a beer. Oh and disable the damn music... :)

I only use it on my T9. If I line it up just right, it's inside the station before the controller is finished talking.

Never enter the letterbox at under 100 m/s, unless there are other CMDRs about who you think might attempt to ram you. If you are going less than 100 m/s, NPCs are very likely to ram you up the Asp. If you are going faster, it's only ships in front of you that you need to be concerned about.

iv been docking at 70 80 recently pluss 100 is speeding in the federation not sure about other regions. and yes if i can't see my pad i fly to middle and flip ship to fined my pad. Someone mentioned auto dock which button is that?

Anyway i can dock small ship like my Diamondback well enouph and iv upgraded it with rail guns and missile launcher and can Carrie 24 t cargo so i can just about handle the fights as long as im friendly space like Sol as i have mu permit now then i get help from the federation ships also.
