Docking on Auto waiting access.

Just wondering if the number of landing slots have been severely reduced in 2.2 to allow for the new structures. If so this could be why when using the docking computer you get docking denied once then on each reapplication you get totally ignored.

There also seems to be inordinatly long waiting for access times after your given permission to land. So much so you often need to take control and put some speed on to disengage the DC until your inside the slot.

Simple solution: Do not use the DC until entering the station. It is a docking computer, not an auto-pilot. Just use it for final landing/docking. No waiting in queues, no boosting into the outside of the station. Drive to the door and as you enter the mail-slot, cut throttle to 0% and let Otto-Dokker land the ship.

exactly this. I use the docking computer on most of my ships if it has a slot available for it. Just pass the letterbox manually and let the docking computer do the rest

I do that when smuggling - I actually turn it off completely until I'm through the slot, as I don't like rolling the station to find my pad.
But I don't get queued very often anyways, and usually use an auto-dock as a chance to get up and use the latrine anyways.

I never asked for simple solutions and I frequently move inside then use the DC by setting speed to 0. The real questioning here was if any had yet noticed that at busy stations since 2.2 dropped you may get denied without being given a reason and could this be related to a reduction in landing spaces due to the new structures having been introduced. Despite using the DC for a long time I have only once caught the ship trying to boost into the side of the station, and found it exceptionally reliable. Just because it has been given the name docking computer does not mean it is not meant to be used as an automatic landing system. If it was it would not take over until your ship was through the slot.
So no need for the patronizing attitude.
