Newcomer / Intro Docking permission checks

I'm apparently missing something when it comes to docking permissions.

I'm trying to dock with one of 20-30 carriers in the system LTF 37. Went into solo mode to avoid occupied docks, am withing 7,5km range.
And it still gives me "Docking request denied, you do not meet set permissions."
What permissions? Where am I going to learn about them? Where can I acquire them?

Check the carrier info (might be in the system map) - the carrier's owner can restrict docking to friends and/or squadron members (and permit or decline docking permission for notorious CMDRs). In order to get the permission, you'll need to talk to the carrier's owner.

Yup - system map -2nd tab, hover over the FC

or look in the Nav Panel - target the FC and open the details and it should say if you have docking permission.

Ideally FC that you can't dock at would be hidden / hide-able / different colour - maybe one day :)

It is more a case of get rid of the ones you cannot use so as to stop cluttering the place up. ;)
Well, yeah. Then again, filter would be a nice non-invasive option and even switching to orrery view helps if you mind them that much.
But intentionally messing up BGS just out of spite is... low.

The trouble with using the filter is that they are still there and therefore affecting framerates etc for those running more marginal equipment, blocking them so they aren’t in the same instance isn’t going to work and destroying them is tempting but a little over the top not to mention impossible which leaves just driving them off. I am sure the BGS would recover from the fallout eventually.

Now in game so

Well I wasn't actually being serious but as for messing the BGS - are you saying that F C doing the "hydrogen bomb" doesn't work any more.

Sorry but there is a lot about the F C that is annoying, not too sure on their current use apart from enabling "friends" to reap enormous profits from gaming trading.

Maybe when the dust settles then things will become less "clogged".

Anywayup - I digress on the newcomer's forum, sorry, but I can see newcomers getting annoyed at the "friends only", "not allowed", etc. etc. in the plethora of FCs in a system.

Fleet carriers do enable credit transfer, albeit you actually have to do some work, but their potential impacts on the BGS are overstated. You can achieve the same effect without one, and given that you need to (re)stock the carrier and someone will have to come by/sell the commodities in the first place anyway, it's not a time saver.

I know and I wasn't replying to your nuke notion at all. I was replying to Factabulous' ridiculous comment.

Yes, carriers will dilute into galaxy in time, but before that, let's cut these guys some slack. Like PvPers or people wanting to engineer their ships, they are funneled into a certain area to be able to do "their thing" (no judging)
The rest of us can be literally anywhere else and have as good a game. So the idea of myself saying "I want to be in this system for reasons and all other people are in my way so I will screw them over and annoy them until they leave" is quite incomprehensible to me.

But yeah. Let's drop this, it's OT on multiple levels.
