So basically. Implement docking queues and let ships with friendly / allied status get priority for docking and also for docking spot placements.
If you divide the "inner" docking stations into 3 rings. Ring 1 being next to the entrance.. Ring 2 will be prime spot to dock at. Ring 3 slightly less than ring 2 (due to travel distance) and ring 1 is the absolute worst one (due to close to full stop at entrance.. look around to find your docking spot and then dive down to it).
Also I don't get why you have to land your ship in one direction. When you launch, the docking system should be able to turn you in the right direction.
It is really annoying, if you missed your docking pad in "ring one", you have to turn around and then turn your ship around again in order to line up correctly to the pad.
Same goes for outside pads as well.
