Newcomer / Intro Docking request problems

Hi Commanders, ive been away from the game for many years so I've gone back to play on tutorials to sharpen memory.

Got a problem i jumped in to my ship managed to get there with a bit of cargo left, i kept heating up by a star when i engaged in jump mode.
Station is locked pressed 1 then shifted across to request docking and thats were the problem is.
No request available to click on ?

Flew to another space station and exactly the same, no option for me to request docking ?
Playing in solo mode if this helps.
I have got a docking computer but its at 1%, my sensors are 75% and seem to be working.
Might end up changing ships and see what happens, at the moment i cant seem to dock any where due to there being no docking request for me to press

Most probably your sensors got destroyed as you were cooking and your ship can't "see" the station.. :)

Check in the Modules tab in the right panel. If that's the case, go to ship management in the same panel and click "Reboot/repair" option. That should get you to the station.
the Reboot of your ship basically cannibalizes some modules to repair others. But be sure to repair your ship properly once docked.

edit: uh,... I apparently hadn't read the post properly. Are you sure your sensors are at 75%?

Sounds like a bug. The ability to request docking doesn't depend on you having a docking computer.

Only two conditions: A: be within 7.5 kms (but you should still have the ability to request, it will just always be denied) and B: make sure you have the station selected in your Contacts panel.

Edit: (Maybe the sensors are the issue as alluded to above?)

I was just about to take a screen shot, and explain what was going on. After re logging it's fine i clicked 1 shift across and there was the option for docking request.
I read few posts and was aware of the sensors, which leads me to another question i tried to repair the damaged modules on my ship (docking computer 1%) but none would repair ?
Second question say if my sensors had of been destroyed how are you meant to dock again ?

After 5 or 6 years away from the game it has really added alot of content and im not going to lie, its over whelming at the moment.
Got a couple of teething problems need sorting boost button; Doesn't work on X52 pro (i) button, and i cant get the voice attack to work but over the next week or so hope to tweak my flying experience a bit better.

The Reboot option is only a last resort. It will only "repair" modules that are at 0% integrity (i.e. completely destroyed) and it will only bring them back to 1%.
If all your modules are at 1% or higher, rebooting the ship won't do anything.

If your sensors are completely destroyed (0%), you won't see anything on radar and can't target anything (that includes the station so you can't request docking). Only in that case the reboot will help.

If you want to maintain your modules properly, you have to buy AFMU (automatic field maintenance unit). It's a module that can fully repair other modules (except the powerplant and itself. It also can't repair a fully broken canopy but can repair a cracked one)

As for your joystick - I remember the X52 has something called "clutch mode" in which the (i) button only works as a "shift" (giving a second functionality to other buttons). If you disable the clutch mode in the software, the (i) button will start working as a normal button and you can bind your boost to it.
Can't really help you with the Voice Attack as I also resort to simple "trial and error until it works" when I have problems with it.

Thanks Chris Simon, much appreciated.
While im here iv'e altered some think in key bindings were my ship is constantly pitching downwards. Ive looked and altered so much in key bindings but still cant seem to fix the problem, i will carry on trying but if you know what im typing about, again thank you for your help.

Was gonna suggest tabbing across and back as a solution that sometimes fixes it but think you got there.

Q1 'Repair' in the module itself is only available if you have AFMS, which is nowhere near Automatic and must be the most misleading advertising campaign ever, instead of that tab over to Ship tab and click 'Reboot/Repair' for emergency repairs to get you home.

Q2 Should work the same, should bring sensors up to a minimal level where they will work for docking.

If your ship is pitching downwards without a joystick input, I'd suspect either a bad calibration (try to put the joystick to all extremes and the write a circle (well, "square") with it severa times. I forgot if X52 has self-calibration. Otherwise go to the joystick settings in Windows and callibrate from there. There you should also clearly see that your axis is off-centre) or maybe a bad binding.
Check whether you've bound the x-axis of your joystick as an actual pitch AXIS and not just a "pitch up" and "pitch down" buttons. Does it pitch down just slightly or fully? If it's just slightly then you have it on axis (which is correct), but in that case, if calibration doesn't work, it could be a bad sensor. Which would be... well... bad.

Also - about that altering too much in the bindings. Sometimes the best course of action is to load up the X52 defaults (from the roll-down menu at the top) and start over.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. I know how this can be frustrating.

Sorry for the Necro here but I have had exactly the same problem with my X52 (not Pro).

The solution was to use the standard windows calibration utility. The X52 comes with its own but that does not show the problem. I have Microsoft Flight sim FSX SE and I can access the stick through that. I am sure there must be an easier way but when I use joy.cpl it takes me to the Logitech calibration which is no good.

I hope this helps any other Commanders plagued with this problem. Make sure you calibrate everything, not just the pitch axis.
