Newcomer / Intro Docking Requested Accepted. Now Die.

A mystery for history I reckon.

Too bad the OP missed the 'own up' good will bonus.

Perhaps now, we will never know what happened.

As the old saying goes "Those who fail to repeat history are doomed to learn from it" Wait, that's not it.....

It might have been a bug.

A few days ago, I noticed something odd. My T9 approached my Carrier with a load of tritium, got docking permission, and the docking computer engaged. It then auto-landed, but it was under fire just above the pad, and apparently from the Carrier's lasers (they were damaging the shield generator, so they had reverb). Only briefly, and everything was fine after landing.

Negligent gunner fell asleep on the trigger, maybe.

That's when your carrier is shooting at a criminal and yur ship gets caught in the cross-fire. It doesn't do any serious damage and happens (to me) quite often. OP's problem was different. OP found out why it happened when he/she read their game log files, but was too embarrassed to tell us.

I am late to the party, I reckon, but it happened to me twice (in about 2000 hours) that a station suddenly turned hostile on me and blew me up for no apparent reason.
The rebuy screen showed "trespassing" in both cases, but after checking the journals, there was nothing pointing at any wrongdoing (and I am pretty sure I hadn't done anything wrong indeed - no bounties, no fines, empty cargo, no hardpoints, no loitering).
It's just an unfortunate bug.
In one case, it was my own fleet carrier, to add insult to injury!

Don’t you get trespassing by being too close to the wrong pad for too long or is that just loitering?

I think it's loitering, trespassing is only done if you access the port without a docking permission.

On your own fleet carrier, you can do whatever you want, and even block pads that are booked by others, and no one will do a thing: this is why approaching my FC, with docking permission, and suddenly seeing it turn to hostile when I was still 6km away was a bit of a shock.

Not a bug. show us the actual journal record from the time you requested docking permission to the time you exploded.

I will need to look in my archives, it was a number of months ago, so I need to do some digging.

What do you reckon it could have been?

The other instance when I was destroyed was as soon as I undocked from a starport: as the platform was going up from the hangar, the station turned from green to red, and as the clamps released I got shot to pieces. It wasn't a change of BGS because as I rebought the ship in the same station, it was green again, and I was in good rep with all the factions in the system. 🤷‍♂️

Probably the most common reason is docking permission revoked because the police found that you were a criminal when they scanned you.

Blown up on take off happens when you accidentally fire a weapon inside the station. You have firing deploys weapons set, and when you go for the lift landing gear button, your finger slips onto the primary or secondary trigger, or the cat treads on the keyboard.
