Docking slaves when they are illegal...

I'm trying my hand at some slave trading and have a quick question...

The place I'm bringing the slaves too has them listed in the general commodities market but according to the illegal goods list they are on that list.

Does this mean they are illegal but the station is ok selling them and if I get scanned what would likely happen?

It means the station won't buy them unless it has a black market, or missions to collect them. It also means if you get scanned on the way in you'll get a fine that's more than the slaves cost, so do your best to get in there quick without being scanned, you can turn off the modules and turn on silent running, but I tend to just bomb it and hope for the best, usually works out. If the station is an outpoust though you'll be alright though, don't think there's ever security at those.

I think though, since those missions are usually 2 slaves for ~45k (double their cost), if you get scanned you'll roughly break even, so it isn't too much of a problem. Unless you're donating slaves, which is a bit weird, you get a fine for liberating slaves...

Are you hauling Imperial slaves? As Imperial slaves and normal 'slaves' are two different commodities.

Normal slaves. Both slave types are in the commodities list for me to sell (not black market) but only 'slaves' are in the illegal list.

Thanks for the answer. This is confusing because the slaves 'are' in the normal commodities market and not on the black market. I'm just trying to figure out if they really are illegal and if I'll be ok if scanned.

I'm in a type7 so I can't land on outposts and dive-bombing the entrance when I have an inch above and below me takes quite some nerve (My heart is racing after my last docking and I got scanned :D ).

Sorry I missed the part where you said they were in the commodities list. Yeah I'd be a bit careful, sometimes I've been scanned on the way out of stations too. Very weird that, I haven't been anywhere that sells commodities they consider illegal.

Also yeah, I've pretty much stopped smuggling since I jumped in my Type 7 too, it's too slow and I've whacked the top on the station more times than I care to count :D Plus, 216 tons of slaves is gonna get you slapped with a heeeefty fine!

Yer, when doing cargo runs that are illegal I just buy a smaller ship such as a Viper (or cobra for bigger ones), to dart into the ports quick. When I move on I just usually sell it. Will store them in Achenar once I get the permit to get in there :D

I am almost always scanned on the way out of a station. I use the same protocol to sneak into a station as to exit. I boost like crazy on the way out and even when it says "being scanned" if I can hit the 7.5km marker before the scan finishes I am usually undetected.

You take them in like any stolen or illegal goods, avoid a scan. My method is head for the slot at high speed. Aim well or things will not be good.

I guess i should have paid attention before now but never really had reason too... Does the scan only happen as you enter or just before you enter the station or can you still be scanned making your way to the landing pad once inside?

Thanks

Once you are inside you are fine. They will try and scan you once you enter the no fire zone. Line up quite far away to the entrance, as soon as you hit the no fire zone, go silent running and flight assist off, then do not touch the flight controls until you are just about to go through the entrance. Flight assist back on and turn silent running off, then dock normally.

They won't scan you until you get out of the letter box. So hover just inside of the box, line up then floor and boost.

to get in, try and make your heat signature as low as possible, use a heat sink and go silent running about 5 k out. or turn off all modules and freeze before drifting in, turning on thrusters at the last minute. In a type 7 though if you don't have shields on you better be very good at docking at full speed.

Inertia is going to be the biggest problem though, stopping that Type 7 before you get spiked will be fun to watch. Which station will you be doing this at, I'll bring the popcorn.
