The Federation seems like such a stale status quo faction, even with a stereotypical Republican and Democrat to choose between, so I can see why so few people get enthusiastic about it. Problematic.

I like the idea of the Federation, a post scarcity technocracy where all labor is done by robots and AIs but still using a capitalistic economy so there's massive unemployment since there's no longer a need for humans.
