Does an Odessy steam key work in frontier store if i have Epic version of the game?

So I grabbed this game for free on the Epic store a while back, and I plan to buy the upcoming DLC, unfortunately for me Epic doesn't sell wallet cards and I never use by back account to buy online.

I had the idea of buying the game+dlc from Steam, but I was told that my save will still be linked to my Epic account and I will have to start over or move my account an partially loose my progress which is not an option.

My last option which I'm worried it might not work is to buy an Odessy steam key and activate it on the frontier store, can anyone tell me if it works or not?

your ED account is bound to Epic only

if you play ED via epic then you need to buy Odyssey from Epic, steam keys wont work with Epic. iirc Steam wont let you buy Odyssey without ED on steam

or you could try buying Odyssey direct from the Frontier store, however im not 100% sure this will work with Epic games

hmmmm remember its a dlc you would need to buy horizons too
else you are bound to get all updates add on's ect through epic as that is where you bought the base game methinks

in saying that if you bought horizons direct too you could potentially login using the same email address cmdr name password ect you used on the epic account overwriting its permissions
and keep your progress and cmdr name but loosing your epic version
but don't blame me if the above did not work but I see no reason why it woudnt

ya but if op wants odyssey but not on epic he will need a another copy of the base game is what I meant as like you say its basically one game now......
its the only possible way if he wants too keep cmdr name too that may actually work though I am not 100 percent on that more like 98%
