Engineers Does anybody else use blasters?

I did a search but didn't find much conversation on blasters.
I tried them on a whim with my Vulture. I'm an in close fighter with PVE so the range limits are fine with me, but boy do they erase shields.
I have C3 gimbaled pulses. Now I'm only comparing them to my experience with C3 gimbaled pulse -(focused and overcharged).
The only problem is they overheat, but it's manageable. I just need to go back for some better rolls.

Thoughts?

Don't be silly, why should we gimp ourselves so much? If you somehow manage to get THAT close, Double Shot frags are the way to go.

OH Yes agree Double shot Frags RIP Ok!

Don't read about it... Get a fixed Frag, get it engineered to Double shot, pick a special that tickles your fancy (I use Drag/corrosive), then go and try it out. You won't be disappointed. If you like it, get an FDL and put 4 on and a PA! Oh My!
 
Short range blasters are bad on any weapon.

i have a weird use case for those. turrets which are only fitted to fire on small targets outmanouvering me, while i normally stay out of shortrange blaster range.

but beside that ... even on cannons they are so much worse than overcharged.

no, on those hardpoints you want a small ammo increased MC turret to apply the corrosive special, and a emissive munition pulse to incease gimbal tracking as an anti fighter utility.

Did this a few weeks back and can recommend it. My Shotgun Cobra is a lot of fun.

Even better, get a Hull Tanking FAS, 4 Fixed Double Shot Frags, and fill it to the brim with the heaviest HRP and MRP you can find, 4 Heat Sinks and go Silent Running around. Big Ships won't ever see you coming.
 
I use the laser weapons for farming CZ or RES so I don't have to leave every 10 minutes to refill my ammo.
I didn't ask what is the best weapon for CQB combat. I asked about the blasters and hoped for some experience and evaluation.

I thought it might be easier asking here than searching the web for an answer....boy was I wrong.

My apologies, as I was the first to de-rail (no pun intended!) the question. In this case, my answer is that I don't know, as I find the Blaster mod a sub-optimal choice in most, if not all, circumstances.

the point is simply: if you like it, that's fine and enjoy. but you have to keep closer than ~765 m to your target constantly, to get more DPS out of shortrange blaster than with focussed or longrange pulses (for exampel), beside focussed pulses hitting harder against the large ships down to python... now, just speaking from flying my frag courier, it is complicated enough to get in range to fire frags, but i wouldn't be able to keep <750 m on a target for a sustained damage weapon like pulses. i'd bet that you'd be better off with focussed pulses.... but maybe you can actually keep <750 m/s distance in the ~2-3 minutes it roughly needs to take down a NPC python with pulses?

if i would fly my vulture with pulses, I'd probably go focussed. but i much prefer longrange beam + mc, frags or full PA loadout.

Hmmmm, Never heard of Synthasis ?? No talking about premium or even the next one down, but the standard ammo reloads. Always use this if in a Res site in my all MC Ship!! Cost a few low grade Materials
