Newcomer / Intro Does anybody play with HOSAM (hands on stick and mouse)?

Long story short. I play PvE solo with KB+M and FA on, using short FA off only for agile maneuvers etc. Could do any activities but Thargoid Interceptors.
For Thargoid Interceptors I changed my KB+M setup for full FA off. Now I can easily do Cyclops with my shieldless Chieftain using cold orbiting with hull remaining 99-100% after the fight.
But I cannot kill Basilisk, my best fight was three hearts destroyed. Though my aiming is good with the mouse but I have problems orbiting Basilisk due to its much higher speed and maneuverability.
My orbit decays too fast and I cannot manage to press so many buttons at the same time for thrusts, roll etc.
So, I decided to try a stick for thrusts and roll.
Any comments/advise, please.

Currently using Thrustmaster 16000M FCS HOTAS (no pedals - I'm using the stick's twist for yaw and yaw is pretty pointless in a fight anyway)
Can't speak highly enough about the thing. It's surprisingly rugged and overall it feels solid in the hand (unlike Saitek/Logitech products which were always squeaky and kind of flimsy) and for its price it has more features, buttons and axes than you'll ever need in Elite.

So yeah. That. Alternatively the X-52Pro that I had before. That's a really good HOTAS as well (especially the throttle). Up until it inevitably breaks. :)

HOSAM sounds like a chore to me and I would worry about havibg enough keybinds available unless you are sporting something similar to a Razer Naga with a keypad on the side. Furthermore, both stick and mouse are most naturally operated by your main hand so there’s that complication.

Basilisk orbiting is not that different from Cyclops although different. Practice with whatever your chosen control scheme is will make it better. With the risk of sounding like a broken record: If you can get two hearts off of any interceptor, then you have the skills to complete the fight as later hearts get easier (faster exerts). At that point it is mainly about getting your consistency up and your nerves under control. If you have gotten three Basilisk hearts, then it is just a matter if time.

I’ll also just drop this here in case it helps:
