Does anybody use Skype, Team speak, or other software each other whilst playing elite?

I know when I was playing other games we used to have lots of us online and chatting away in either Team Speak or through Skype. People in here seem to be complaining about not being able to talk to friends whilst in game so why are people not taking advantage of these other programs???

In every MMO MMRPG or whatever we have always had a work around. I know people in here complain about the limited communications, but we have other methods don't we.

What methods do people use to communicate with friends in game?

Yep: TeamSpeak.

Until they fix the ingame voice comms (which are awesome when they work btw.) we use Teamspeak 3.

I use the in game NASA/ESA/RKA-esque voice squelch comms.

We have had times where we couldn't connect to one of our wing-a-lings though...

But it sounds super fun.

Also, if the Frontier guys read this, there needs to be a Visual and Audible queue when you mute channel off, and turn channel back on. (Currently, I have voice attack handle that for me, telling me if voice channel is on or off)

While on topic of HUD needs... I'd love a visual indicator if my front lights are on or off for parking / docking reasons... right now, the only way I know they're on is if I flip the switch a few times and listen for the "flash bulb" whine sound.
