Does anyone bother with boom time delivery 3000+ units?

Does anyone bother with these honesty? The rewards are just not worth the time involved I don't think anyone I've played with have ever done these. Whats the general consensus on the forums? If the rewards were trebled or huge amounts of materials might be worth? Even in a wing of 4 this is easily 2-3 trips each.

Given there are much better returns for other hauling missions and easier ways to get your rep up to the point where they become available, yes, I see it as an issue. Maybe there should be separate divisions for "nice jobs" and "dirty jobs", perhaps with separate buckets for influence, so that you can beat the BGS diminishing returns curve, but at a cost that you really have to scrape the barrel with more menial and less efficient missions.

I've been out exploring for a long time now but I used to do a lot of these where there was an inf+++++ reward, and the equivalent fetch missions too, although with fetch the earnings are lower I never concerned myself with the payout.

I often had at least one on the go, or a recently completed one I hadn't handed in & used them to help other Cmdrs by sharing the wing reward. I'd also encourage combat pilots to 'escort' me, depending on their ability I'd help them kill the NPCs that interdicted me & let them take their pick of the mats, or leave them to the kill if they looked like they were on top of things.

In one memorable system a Code pirate was in the destination system, he agreed to give us a clear run (I was undermining the controlling faction with another Cmdr, he was sympathetic to our cause), on my next entry the system was empty of other Cmdrs, he literally cleared the system for us :D We shared the wing reward & parted ways on good terms.

They can be fun :)

The wing hauls are woefully underpaid. Even a wing of 4 Cutters/T9 needs to do two runs. At the same time each of the Cutters/T9 could load up to 4 180t solo missions and get much more.

Yeah, but you don't have to split the reward, everyone in the wing gets it. These aren't meant to be done solo.
You don't split rewards on other Wing missions anyway everyone always gets the same credit or material reward.

Sometimes those can be fun if you get into own lore-mode.
Like, load a FC with 6000 tons of Basic meds and go on humanitarian trip, delivering them to stations in need.
Or load 5k of cheap Wine, selling them for high price on National holiday stations.
Bet someone can get similar kick by delivering Clothing.

I don't. 5520 units for 10 million? Much better to take one of those wing mining ones that you can buy from commodity markets... less than a trip for 40-50 million.

I wish these missions with large quantities had a clearer purpose, like a mini-CG.

The general opinion here then seems most people don't ever take them and some do rarely.
It's a mission personally I don't usually bother with missions.

However the fact that some jobs pay poorly in comparison to the best, or our dreams of avarice, is I think a good thing. If all missions payed well how 'realistic' would that be, the fact we have to decide what is worth our effort helps make the game more interesting and less arcadey.

As much as immersion and realism are a thing this is a still a computer game and having unplayable or pointless content is a waste of time.

Considering a large part of the game for some people is playing faction and BGS it would make more sense to at least have missions that give the player a reasonable choice.

At the moment I could take 2 or 3 solo or other Wing missions that would require far less time input and would ALWAYS reward more. If hauling 3000-5000 units gave the same rewards as 3-4 missions then these would be worth while. At the moment they give barely anymore than what 1 or 2 missions would reward but take far more time. Could a random RNG generated reward be add say a small chance to get a module or perhaps a chance of getting other grade 5 materials?

On average a mission rewards 2 - 5 units of grade 1 to 5 materials from what I can tell these missions never reward more than 5. I would argue the average Type 9 with shields probably holds 600ish units. Even in a Wing of four these missions would need EVERYONE to do 2-3 runs not considering interdiction, loses and travel distance thats hell of a lot of time for 5 materials or 5 influence. Not worth

You are sort of making my point the presence of these less rewarding missions has made you pay more attention to what you are doing so that what you do is in your view worth the time and effort rather than just taking one at random as the rewards are much the same no matter what.

Just to quibble unless it was a long haul build I would put a shielded T9 at 700 ish but that is just a quibble as that mission would still need about 8 full loads of cargo.
