Does anyone else feel bad when you kill someone who only has a 500 Cr bounty?

Was hanging around a Nav Beacon the other day, & found someone that was wanted. I unleashed my weapons & dealt with them very efficiently.....only to find out the bounty on them was barely more than 500 Credits. It felt like I'd killed somebody for the Interstellar equivalent of Jay Walking ;). Anyone else have a similar experience?

CMDR Marcus.

Not as bad as when I was in an Anarchy system at the Nav point yesterday - started KW scanning an eagle and he spooled up his FSD...I couldn't wait to check his bounty, so as I was in an Anarchy I opened up with the beam lasers and burnt him into dust just as the KW scan finished before he jumped out...

...no reward. Ooops.

That was probably a fine not payed for docking without docking request.

So that was the equivalent to "Death Penalty for a Parking Ticket".
Well done, Judge Marcus

Think of it this way...
You killed no one. All you did was destroy his/her ship.
He/She will be back.

I've felt a bit guilty about it as I figured the NPC probably only went Wanted for a cop flying in front of his guns :)

When i use multis on the smaller ships and get only 200cr i feel bad for the wasted ammo. I think i'm not immersed enough to feel pity for npc's.

Would be otherwise with a cmdr though....

I let someone go with a 6k bounty earlier, mainly because it wasn't a bounty in the immediate area so I would become wanted for attacking him and he was near an outpost, but a lot of it was because I spoke with him first and he was trying to pay it off but lacked the funds (Only in a sidey). If I see people with small bounties I will try to talk to them, if they ignore me or act cocky I fire away, otherwise I turn all "Debt Collector" and tell them to pay it off before I or someone else destroys their ship.

I doubt I'd feel bad about it. Having that said, I don't do bounty hunting and don't attack players outside warzones unless I'm being interdicted or shot at.

Even let one live in a warzone once - we were both in Vipers and had collided due to evading to the same direction. Once I had reoriented and assessed my damage, I saw him at 1% hull.
Retracted my hardpoints and let him go - not entirely sure why, but it seemed the most sensible thing to do.

Yeah I don't bother with small amounts but anyone else experiencing the phenomenae of Sidewinders all of a sudden going Freddy Krueger on your ass? I mean there I am minding my own business when they just attack, usually in twos or threes at a time, like nuisance flies. KWS and kill later and richer by 200cr lol.

I feel bad that I wasted a load of bullets....

I get that a lot in RES's. Suddenly a little gang of them will go totally postal on me. My tactic is usually to run and spread them out, turn back and take them out one at a time. Worse is in a conflict zone when 3 Anacondas suddenly take an interest in you in particular.

In fact, last night I let go a commander after discovering he had just a 100cr bounty. There's no point in killing people for nothing.

I fight to defend myself, if they attack I'll KWS them while absorbing their attack (if possible) which enables me to claim what they are worth.

I've not yet gone out hunting.

I've only lost 2 so far. the first one I did not know what I was doing (total newb) and the second was in an unarmed T6 when the player pirate did not ask for cargo he just let rip at me!

Usually when an NPC has a small bounty like that it's because they are bounty hunter's and have attacked me in a system in which I am clean, because I have a bounty in another system where I am wanted. In that situation I am more than happy to take them out ;)
.
I wouldn't kill another Commander for 500 credits though. Not for any altruistic reason, it's just not worth the risk of sustaining more than 500Cr in costs!

I always only return fire, no matter how big the payday would be. If they feel lucky enough to attack me, I need to teach them some manners. Maybe it's time to visit the starter system again. ;)

I always feel really bad about killing ships with small bounties. Especially when they jump in clean then hang around scanning and attacking wanted criminals. They are clearly bounty hunting and not criminals themselves but then suddenly they have a 400cr fine (probably because some system security ship flew straight into their line of fire!).

I would never shoot someone just because they were wanted, no matter the bounty. They have to at least look at me the wrong way or have a serious grammar deficiency.

I have principles.

My first CMDR kill was a couple of days after launch, I was not many jumps from LHS 3447 in my Viper, I saw a wanted Eagle jump in and promptly pulled him out of SC.

A short fight later and he was toast. I call it a fight, but it was more like seal clubbing, he barely got a shot off and just before he exploded he send me a message "Ta". Then my reward, 200 Cr. Oh that'll be a friendly fire penalty then. Well that was embarrassing...

Now I check the bounty first to see if it's worth my time. I have no desire to be a space-faring parking attendant.
