Does anyone find module shopping fun?

I'm sitting in a station right now that sells Cobra III's and Type 6's, but no frame shift drives. This was the second station in the system that I tried. I'm just so tired of this crap. Sure, I could go onto a website completely outside of the game, and look up where to find the appropriate modules but why should I have to? Just PUT IT IN THE GAME.

Instead, I'm just logging out because I'm sending a ship (not that far away, even) to me with a decent jump range, but it has a 22 minute travel time. 22 minutes.

So I guess maybe I'll play Elite tomorrow. Great design, people. *claps*

Everything is 15% off, including ships.
A quick trip Inara.cz to find the right station.
Millions saved.

I find it rather annoying, can't wait to get founders world permit

Need to start doing this till I hit elite

Hmm, can you buy an expensive module at a discount then sell it for full price?

Is that how you play other games?

Fallout, Skyrim, anything... Any game at all... The 'traders' in each town/area don't all stock every purchasable item in the game, you have to find the right locations, why would Elite differ?

I logged off a week ago.
I am playing Skyrim. Toss-up between Thargoids and feeling motion sick every few hours.:eek::eek::eek:

Fallout and Skyrim don't require me to shoe my horse with +10 horseshoes before I go anywhere. They do, in fact, have instant fast travel. Fallout and Skyrim don't use wasting my time as a perverse game mechanic.

Bad metaphore. If you want to compare outfitting with something from TES/Fallout, compare it with leveling and perks. It all takes amounts of time, unless you know the right tricks.

Besides... It's a video game. Aren't they somewhat a waste of time by definition?

It's not a waste of time if you enjoy it. That's what recreation is all about.

Trust me, I've "Leveled Up" in Elite. I'm Elite in Exploration, Deadly in Combat, and a Tycoon in Trade. I have over 2 billion in assets. I'm a Rear Admiral of the Federation (and closing on actual admiral.) I fly full FA- OFF, and have for months and months. The list goes on.

That has no bearing on the non-sense this game perpetrates every now and then when it comes to wasting players' time.

I base myself out of systems that pretty much have everything. The few times they don't it's only a short jump to another High-Tech/Industrial so no it's not a bother to me. I always buy ships at Founders not just because everything's available but because it lowers my rebuy so I'd shlep myself over every time. I have plenty of ships with high-jump range and with ship storage and transfer going there just to do that isn't a big issue either.

Anyway.
Do what Jenner said - find a High-Tech system over 10million population and you will find almost everything there, and if they miss that one particular A-rated module, the second system you try will have it.

Or do it like I do. When I find a module that I know isn't very common, I buy it and store it, eventually transfer it to my home system so it's ready when I need it.

Or use eddb.io like all impatient players do. :)

Yeah, it's a blast. :/

Inara is helpful, but not perfect. I've wasted a few trips looking for modules that Inara said were there, but they weren't. Most recently last week.

Have fun.

Unless something's changed, I was under the impression that not all modules are in stock at a given station at all times. Much like a 'real' store, inventory availability varies.

So maybe don't waste time then?

Figure out how modules are distributed, use galaxy map and find what you want?

Sure, there are ways how NOT to play game. But that's your choice though.

It is governed by background simulator. Gov type, distance , other people buying modules...and so on and so forth.

If you want to specific thing, well, you will have to find it.

Yeah, it's nice getting better gear. Had a handful of places I would stop by that had more or less everything I needed. I think it was only once or twice that I had to go a bit out of my way and look somewhere else. You find these places just going about playing the game.

Seemed to work fine for me.
