Does anyone play Guild Wars 2?

A video about WOW got me looking at mmo's, and GW2 looks cool. I tried a couple of MMO's and hated them, but I like Angry Joe's review. He said he couldn't get into MMO's until GW2. I liked Skyrim, but not ESO. I loved Knights of the Old Republic, but hated The Old Republic MMO, and after 2 minutes I knew it was a joke.

For about the first 6 months after release I played GW2 constantly. Haven't touched it since then. Actually found that I prefer GW1 & still play it occasionally. Too bad it's pretty much deserted when there are no special events (Canthan New Year this weekend).

I was reading reviews on amazon, and people were saying they changed the level up system, and it's worse than in the beginning. I might pass, but would like to at least try it.

It's a fun game, just nothing mindblowing (no MMO is such, anyway).

Played it for a month at release and never went back. My best mate swears by it though. It wasn't a bad game just very boring for me.

I recently went back to it after a break of 2 years and they've plastered SO MUCH content all over it.
They've also changed a lot of the progression mechanics.

The best thing about it is there's no real gear grind. You buy your exotics when you're 80 (which are very very affordable and you can do 99% of the content) and then if you like grinding it out for that 2-3% increase in stats, you can do that. But you don't have to do that in order to feel competitive.

If you like PvP, sPvP is very fun or WvW for organized mass zerging.
Fractals for high-end PvE and then there's like I think 15+ World Bosses, champion runs, dungeons (story & speed runs), Silverwastes, world completion, jumping puzzles etc

Personal favourites: Evolved worm world boss, Silverwastes (a whole map of events that eventually lead to having to kill 5 champions and then three bosses+ a chest train+a labyrinth+a huge jumping puzzle all on the same map) and guild missions (I can't stress how fun this is working or racing against your guildies every week)

The expansion is coming out in the next months as well and they're keeping to their mantra of horizontal progression. So you won't need to grind away for new gear to do the new content like other games. Instead you gain masteries which change how your class works.

I don't think I've played another mmo with so much varied well crafted content as a whole.
It's also buy to play which is the absolute best way to enjoy an mmo.

If your hesitant to get stuck into an MMO then Guild Wars titles are a great place to start because there's no subscription. I, like a lot of people, play it sporadically as a result - you aren't forced to play because you feel like you're wasting money each month for not doing so.

The game itself is fun & the combat has a much more dynamic & faster pace than other similar games I've played. The way your equipped weapon produces different skills (based on your chosen class/job/profession/whatever-its-called) means you can quickly change your tactics and playstyle. Just like switching ships in Elite, the fact that you aren't tied to one thing goes a long way to keep you coming back. =)

I was going to, but when NCSoft announced the shutdown of my favorite MMO, I decided to boycott any game that has the NCSoft logo attached to it. Then someone gifted me with the game, I installed it, played for about.....three weeks and uninstalled, quite unimpressed with the game. The only thing it had going for it was shiny graphics.
Nowadays my only MMO is Elder Scrolls Online. Gave up on anything Craptic Studios put out after the fiasco that was Neverwinter.....after playing TERA for a month I came to the conclusion that game was just anime fanboi fodder. RIFT didn't do it for me....and Defiance started to...but TRION so messed up social parts of that game and balance in general that only the diehard fans and PvP hackers still play.

I play it occasionally although far less than I used to. I realy like the artwork, the world is fantastic but I find the game design bizarre in places and the gameplay lacking in many ways especially with larger groups. Hopefully the expansion changes it up.
