Hardware & Technical Does anyone play this with a Flight Yoke/Throttle assembly?

If so, how well does it work?

I have the pedals for FSX/etc. and an X52 (Upgrade from my trusty Black Widow which, incidentally, feels better than the fancy one) and have enough cash to set up a nice Cessna rig. Just wondering if it would work for ED too.

Obviously trading/exploring should not be an issue, but combat planes all tend to have a stick, not a yoke, from my experience in sims.

I don't fight that much, so figured a combined rig might be worth putting together with the big screen, tracker, pedals, etc.

Is ED combat really NOT doable with a yoke and pedals?

Okay - works fine.

Pros:

Feels like a jumbo jet/transport plane.
Space Trucking! ;)
Starport slot entry pretty easy
Comfortable driving position and clamps to desk, so no mounts needed on chair arms, etc

Cons:

Not fast enough for full combat
Lacks extra controls so you have to change modes to get Thrusters/power balancing etc. or use an extra controller/keyboard
(Has a hat switch, button and 6 toggle switches)

I like it, but would switch to the X52 if I was going Bounty Hunting or expecting a fight.

That's great to hear. I almost bought a yoke, and was watching your thread to see if anyone else is yoking about in the game. My original Star Citizen pledge ship had an in-game yoke, which originally put the idea in my head. I have done a bit of space truckin' at this point and if I had a yoke I would have absolutely loved it.

So, it's as slow as I imagined it may be?

I think I'll have to get good at combat to interest my wife in ED further. So I'm about to pull the trigger on CH HOTAS, and then either make my own rudder pedals or run a full CH trilogy.

Rack up many million credits and fly a proper barge with it, before you surrender to the glamour of combat!
