Does Beyond (beta) bring in planetary bookmarks and navigation to surface waypoints?

Nope. Not even on the schedule of upcoming features. Maybe someday we'll get them, maybe.

What might be good is if players could place a beacon at points of interest, which meant that it would be easy for other players to locate POI’s on planets. These could be deployed by SRV and significant sites could have special beacon deployment points to differentiate from player beacons to prevent beacon spam. Of course this idea would need some work to prevent players from spamming beacons everywhere but it would give explorers something to do, having to mark all the current known sites as well. This would also make it easier for the casual player to find these sites without spending ages trying to find specific coordinates on planets.

This game ain't for casual players.
I'm a casual player...
What am I doing here..?

to find these sites without spending ages trying to find specific coordinates on planets.

What heresy is this. Spending ages to perform trivial tasks, making easy things unnecessary complicated is a CORE feature.
QoL things? Fun things? What else would you want? Higher paying missions maybe? Or ability to pick at which star in binary/triple/multiple star system you would like to travel?

In my old days...
(says casual that scored first year in ED...)

The good news is the Q4 release is when explorers will be shown lots of love, and this seems like a good time to add those features. I expect a "Focused Feedback" on exploration before too long, so make sure to request this feature at that time :D

A feature that should have been introduced years ago. Especially since we already use a geocoordinate system for planetary locations.

Yes! You could even make it a size 1 module like the auto docking sequence. It could be called GPGS, global positioning guidance system.

Something that fits in a watch today should not take up the equivalent of 2t cargo in 3304.

I hope we get this feature this year!!!

It's not an in-game solution but I've started writing a wee PC program that takes output from status.json, lets the player enter destination co-ordinates, computes the (initial) course and range to target, then updates the heading as the player navigates to the destination - should have a beta version available by the time that Beyond Ch.1 is released (whenever that is).

is that status.json updated in realtime Robert?

Looking forward to seeing that, it sounds like it could help the situation greatly.

Doesn't help us console peasants Robert, FDev, get cracking. It would be a great feature this! :)
