Does buying Overwatch still makes sense?

OW Goty (whatever that means for this arena FPS) is now discounted at local store here.
I need your advice - does it still make sense to buy it? Game has been out for quite some time - is it still being played, is it ok?
I guess getting the physical media won't be a problem and will contain more than a paper note with online code [mad]

P.S. I'm after something fast paced with matches less than 30min to keep me in a good shape ;) But I hate Pay2Win concept of WOT and its community so this is unfortunately out of question for myself. Any suggestions are welcome.
P.S.S as a battlefield vet I was thinking of BF1, but EA and their Origins push me back really

Overwatch is the big overlord in that genre. It's pretty tough to insert any new game atm into that market slice because it gobbles up so much market share.

Got it yesterday evening and played a bit. First impression is: colourful chaos and funny jump& shoot.
But that is terribly wrong assumption and it gets cleared after just 15min.. it is a very team oriented arena colourful chaos, with very little chance for mistakes and stupid actions. Team Deathmatch is not tolerated as well as happy trigger approach. Lot's of skil required since 1shot and team Wipeout can happen instantly at any time. Very positively surprised. So for now (1-2h gameplay) it looks more like mixture of plants vs. zombies (graphics, atmosphere) and rainbow 6 siege (gameplay, teamwork, etc). Thanks for recommending it. o7

Take responsibility for own actions rather than defer to others.

Overwatch will celebrate its first anniversary with the launch of a boxed Game of the Year (GOTY) edition and an anniversary event that will include 100 new items, including new character outfits and skins, new sprays, animations and more.

You can always program your own game..
