Does carrying an expensive cargo = more pirate attacks?

Since I mostly bounty hunt, I try to always carry 1 unit of palladium, or equally expensive item(s), so pirates attack me, saves time hunting them as they come to me, and if they fire first shot it increases their bounty ;)

however, over time I've got sneaking suspicion that carrying a load of gold or the like seems to increase interdiction amounts
may of course just be me noticing more when carrying such loads ;)
But maybe it does attract them, if the game's AI is written for that? Which I think it should if the program can handle it.

Been carrying 100 tons of gold in my Python and boy do I get pirate interdictions, lol.

Actually it's very handy tip to haul around a bunch of expensive metals, lets you complete mission requiring palladium, silver etc without hassles and for great profit ;)

Seems like it, making runs with my T7 and I keep running into NPCs saying they heard I was coming through and wanted a cut.

I think so. I was carrying a load of expensive metal and I could see an NPC pirate stating on the comms that he could see I was loaded and he wanted some of it and then he positioned himself and interdicted me. So maybe you are right.
