Newcomer / Intro Does "Civil Unrest" Mean You Will Be Shot On Sight?

There was no travel advisory to this location. I decided to land at this port which was highly recommended by friends and family as a beatiful tourist destination. Even the name of the port sounds warm and relaxing. I landed and refueled my ship. But then when I disembarked to check my hotel reservations I was instantly shot and killed.

I need a better travel agent. This was not a very nice tourist location.

No, Civil Unrest does not cause you to be shot on sight. It was something else, perhaps illegal stuff in your inventory, or you didn't stop for the scan when they told you to, or you are hostile to that faction...it could be a number of things. But not Civil Unrest. That's just a faction state.

Solo Mode. No cargo on my ship except limpets. No fines, warrant, notoriety. No power play alignment. I had taken no actions against the base. They let me land and refuel.

I did have three active ship combat missions, none for this system. I see no reference to the factions involved in my missions in this system.

Upon disembarking I was immediately shot and killed in less than 8 seconds. I was still in the blue ring under my ship.

Edit: Wearing my Artemis suit, no weapon. So they killed an unarmed tourist.

1. are u sure u didn't have "e-breach" in ur pocket, sometimes when you out you have it ?
2. are u sure settlement was habitat? Point is, "Civil Unrest" means a lot of bandits around (Wild West), and some settlements get killed/abandoned (however, their in-ship menu still works, I think somebody hides under ground yet), so when you go out - you may meet bandits, who will shoot you on sight because they saw u were landing.

Check your logs to see cause of assault.

I guess I didn't notice I was being shot at as my docking assist placed me on the pad. Certainly friendly chatter as they allowed me to dock. No idea why I was being shot at. Here is the log. I don't see anything that stands out indicating why anybody would want to kill me.

Edit: maybe that "bodycount" log means the faction I had a ship-based mission against is also in this system? There was absolutely no evidence it was.

Bodycount is the planets, nonbodycount I think is asteroids or signals.
Your death remains a mystery 🤷‍♂️

One thing that springs to mind, was it an active settlement? I cannot tell from the screenshot. You could have been shot by scavs at an abandoned settlement.

Yeah, it's a bit of a mystery from your logs. Perhaps support can help you.

What kind of ship were you in? I know there's a bug a few settlements when landing a large ship, they let you land but your ship violates some invisible area that is off limits. But I think it would show in the logs, then.

So, I dunno.

pretty sure its a bug

it has happened so many times that I only take tough ships, to my own factions settlements.

first time I noticed, I was docked in a cutter. Just gave them about 16mil in bounties and about the same in carto data and filled a few missions from the cargo I had.
I was there over 30 minutes before I even heard the shots(I had the audio way down)
my log shows the same.
there is not much useful info in the log from settlement interaction yet.

just hundreds of target:You......
I took pics and a tiny movie, amazing mechanic, buncha ex-employees trying so hard to take down my shields...sooo tiny compared to the ship..
this is a settlement controlled by a faction I am 100% allied with and work for them daily.
and, anarchy faction in anarchy system
sooo, if its not a bug

it must have been something so minute that it isn't logged or noticed by any besides npc's
like, maybe I landed on a guy? or his smokes?

I returned to the location and was greeted with friendly welcome and landed using auto docking assist. Nobody shot at me this time. I have no missions and no cargo

The base has functional services available from my ship. Refuling, repair, contacts, commodities market, active missions available, etc. But the pad lights are turned off. I disembarked and the place is a ghost town.

According to this older foum post stns in "civil unrest" are inactive?

As a tourist destination this place really sucks.

If the place was under the civil unrest state then most likely it was scavs. But then the buildings would be on fire and there would be dead bodies on the ground. 🤷‍♂️

You'd have to be a pretty oblivious tourist.....

Now check this thread:

And connect the dots.

Most probably the settlement was shut down and has buildings burning (on the inside). Docking still works since it's automated
And scavs were on site and if you come in your own ship they will get really angry and converge on your ship and drop a barrage on fire on your ship then on you after you disembark
Since you said you were killed while standing in the blue circle that means between landing and disembarking they're already stripped the shields of your ship

So, if you plan to do missions (or unfortunate visits) in Odyssey, make sure your ship has really solid shields (at least 500-600mj) with decent resists and come to land with 4 pips into shields. Then you can afford to stay in the blue circle, under the ships' shield and shoot back at them
It's still recommended to use at least a G3 Maverick

Edit: otherwise, if you get there in an Apex, the Scavs are totally oblivious to you and - if you have the audio masked weapons or the skill and the patience to sneak upon them with the taser - kill them silently, one by one.
