Does Crossfire work with 0.8 and VIVE and DK2? I can't seem to get crossfire working and when I do try it crashes... Any work around so I can test how 2 gpus work with openvr.

To see proper benefits of multiple GPU cards in VR you need AMD liquidVR (or GameworksVR for Nvidia) to be implemented by the game developer. Traditional Sli/Xfire is not the way forward with VR headsets.

A recent video Q and A with David Braben asked specifically if either of these directX API extensions would be implemented in Elite. His reply tended to suggest he hadn't heard of either of them as his response was about traditional sli. My guess is they are not on the roadmap yet.

I think anyone who is getting benefits from multiple cards in elite dangerous at present is doing so with pure horsepower not with specifically designed VR APIs and libs such as VRSli, multi res shading etc.

Sorry I don't know specifically about a second AMD card. Some have reported benefits with two Nvidia cards.

I hope people will stop requesting support for it in its traditional sense when talking about VR and instead request liquidVR or gameworksVR support. These are the things that will give us true multi card benefits (one card per eye etc) in VR but as I said they require developers to implement them in their game engine.

Elite Dangerous is still broken in crossfire, never mind VR.

Despite the assurances of both FD and AMD, I suspect that the problem is with the Cobra engine and to fix it will probably require a rebuild of the engine. Might as well say that it will never get fixed.

Proof is in the pudding, and right now the pudding is stale indeed.
