Does EDMC still workd properly considering there's now legacy and live?

As title. Wondering if/how EDMC works now that it'll have to track live and legacy systems separetely.

Does it know which version you're playing and so the website it sends data too now has a legacy/live difference, or does it only track one or the other?

Edit:
Just found out the guy running EDDB is shutting it down if a new person can't be found to run it, so I guess it might not matter soon anyway.

EDDB is shutting down?

I found that I enjoyed Elite more not using EDDB-related tools (for example, I enjoyed the challenge of finding my own trade routes through exploration), but the software itself is a marvel, a true piece of art. I also was sad when the galactic mapping program shut down, something I did use, as it made exploration meaningful and contributions tangible. IIRC, this was also reliant (or at least took advantage of) on EDDB. It will be a very sad day indeed if / when EDDB does shut down. Kudos to the developer(s) and maintainer(s) for supporting it for so long.

EDIT - I may be confusing features of EDDB with EDDN.. I'm now not sure which one is the "backbone" (the database) which many of the other tools are built upon. I thought it was EDDB, but maybe it's EDDN? Or maybe they are two halves of a whole. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I was wondering what this would mean for sites like Inara... Don't they all pull data from EDDB? Have to admit I use Inara heavily.

  • EDDN carries Live data and Legacy data - but the amount of Legacy data its carrying now is small
  • Most websites are showing Live data only
  • EDD EDMC EDDI can cope with the Live/Legacy split
  • Inara Spansh etc does not use EDDB - Inara is using direct information from programs such as EDD, and EDDN data.
  • Galactic mapping continues on EDAstro site on a much better basis than previously : https://edastro.com/gec
